Rangers weren't dropped two leagues, nor was it actually for dodgy finances. They formed a new club and had to restart from the bottom. They were actually given a bump up by starting in the fourth tier.

I actually don't like the idea of our first PL title being won by default

I do. It would always feel tainted. We were not the best team

Not true. We were the best team playing within the laws of the game and achieved the best ever point return without financial doping.

    I’m already counting it <whistle>

since the investigation covered 2012 to 2016 it would more likely be 13/14 .<laugh>

And they’ve benefitted hugely from their cheating post 2016. But I’ll take 2 <laugh>

I doubt it will get respective, but the fa must do something. Dropping them down a couple of leagues, or an absolutely massive points deduction for next season.

They've taken the piss really, obviously spent well beyond their means, for the good of the game something must be done.

Nothing wrong with the technolgy on Bobby's goal at Villa. I watched it live on a good stream as it was a 3pm kick off, and they showed, on Bein, that when they originally put it up that Bobby was a foot, at least, onside- forget all this armpit ****e. But because the lino had given offside and Twatkinson was the VAR ref, he redrew the lines going off on obtuse angle to support the on-filed decision. And Mane at Porto last season - I thought he was a yard offside in real time, but they took three or four minutes, as you don't like, and it transpired he has half a metre on. Objective decisions should be taken time over - if there had been a cut-off on that, then a wrong decision would have been taken.

It's the subjective decisions I have a problem with: we had to accept that because when Origi had his calf raked by Lideflop five yards away from Twatkinson, VAR could not overrule the on-field decision (although it patently showed the foul). But when Virgil jumped with De Gea in the reverse fixture, VAR overruled the on-field ref who was standing ten yards from the incident.

And I predict this: when they change the rules and the margins (as some were suggesting after Shrewsbury's goal was given offside at Anfield), all it will take is another decision to go CORRECTLY in Liverpool's favour under those new edicts, and the same pundits, managers and fans who called for VAR in the first place, then whined for VAR to be changed, will be the first ones to call for it to be changed back again. As they said on BT Sport last nigh 'It's the right decision, but is it good for the game?'. Good for who's game? Your club? The club that is playing your bitterest rivals? Good for the narrative of the plucky minnows bravely fighting against the giants? Good for the bank balance of the on-field ref who used to have the final say and never had to apologise for outrageous errors?

Caution - did Uniturd not come second in 2018? And 2012? We'd get two - but so would they.

I'm in two minds about it.
I don't see how there could be a retrospective points penalty, tbh. It's impossible to quantify how many points they gained unfairly, and we can't be certain that they wouldn't have won them anyway. It seems purely arbitrary, and might actually lend weight to their appeal.
I suppose the PL could just say, "You cheated, so you lose anything gained during that period", but that seems Draconian.
Could they strip them of their titles yet not award it to the second-placed team? That seems unfair on the runners-up.
It's a mess, and there are too many variables. I think that, like you, I'd rather we beat the cheats and win it anyway, but it's hard to know what appropriate measures are.
Quite honestly, if City are guilty of knowingly and cynically cheating in this manner, they've made a complete joke of one of the biggest sporting competitions in the world, and really do need a severe punishment.

It would depend on if it was a points deduction, and then how many. In 2018 they were 19 points adrift, so it wouldn't have made much difference.
Anyway, justice is what matters most here, not partisanship.

I agree - justice (as long as Uniturd don't benefit from it. Or Chelsea).
