In what way is it vastly better SH ? You are riding on the crest of a wave in as much as there were 4 Premiership sides in European finals last year - but that was the exception rather than the rule - helped by flukes at Anfield and the Johann Cruyff Arena. Most of the footballing World wanted a Barcelona v Ajax final. Up to that time the Premiership clubs had had a habit of falling out of European competitions at a premature stage. Crowds are higher in Germany, and you cannot seriously suggest that the Premiership is more competitive when Liverpool have a 25 point lead by February.

Apart from a few in Spain the world's best players always head for the EPL. This is recognised by the demand for the EPL around the world where it is screened to 188 countries. I doubt many countries want to screen German football. The EPL has one of the fastest growing attendances for the top leagues in the world. When safe standing is allowed this will rise rapidly. Recent EPL attendance figures are the best since the 1940's.

I don't think the Germans are very interested in whether people watch their football in Singapore or China SH. As long as their stadiums are packed that is enough. The fact is that the atmosphere in German stadiums is so much better that over 2,000 Britons come over every weekend to watch Bundesliga football live - Borussia Dortmund have sold 2,000 season tickets to Britons who live in the UK.

I meet a lot of foreign supporters in the Red Lion each home game eagerly waiting to watch the worlds best players at the Vic. It does not matter what the Germans think, the rest of the world prefers the EPL to any other league as their ultimate football spectacle. I expect all EPL teams have long waiting lists for season tickets.

We're getting onto a completely different theme here SH. The Germans view football in a different way to the way it is seen by yourself. The point here is the 2 year ban on Man City in European competitions - could this be seen as a warning to others ? Are the Premier League going to respond with investigations of their own ? Lastly do you think the ban is justified ? Are EUFA going to allow a fifth Premier League club into the Champions League to compensate for this - or are you going to be cut down to 3 clubs ? My contention is that the last point would be the most just in the present circumstances. I am not going on this with discussion about the relative merits of the Premier League - because you have never been inside a German stadium and so cannot compare. I can tell you that if you look at the average match atmosphere at Ajax, Feyenoord, Standard Liege, St. Etienne, Olympique Marseille or a number of German stadiums that the atmosphere at most Premier League grounds resembles a library by comparison.

I think the whole world judges the relative merits of which league is the most watchable and the EPL wins hand down. I am happy to watch EPL games at the Vic and also watch excellent games on Sky /BT on my new 75 inch tv. My wife is unfortunately very slow to come round with the ice creams.

Like most people, I do not possess all of the facts about the Man City ban so am unable to fairly comment.

One thing you are forgetting SH. is that it is easier for the World to follow a league where there is no language barrier. Most of Asia speaks English as its chosen European language which benefits the Premier League. You talk about the quality of the Premier League - but for quality and technique La Liga is miles ahead - if you were to pick a best of La Liga X1 very few players from the Premiership would have a sniff at getting into it. The fact that Liverpool are now in the top rank of European clubs doesn't disguise the fact that 65% of all semi final placings in the Champions League since 2010 have been occupied by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern.

I'm sure the vast number of countries that prefer to show English football have commentators that speak the local language!! The EPL has the vast majority of the worlds best players, it is a tremendously attractive package which is why it is so popular.

Perhaps they can be replaced by Bury.

I hope City can successfully appeal against this. I love seeing fantastic players like Aguero and De Bruyne ply their trade in the EPL and in Europe.

Why should they?? If they have broken the rules they pay the price.. The rule of law is to be upheld against the behaviour of those who can afford to employ a bank of lawyers eh?

You need to read what I posted.

I said I hope they can successfully appeal. If they have broken rules they will have to face the consequences. The club claim the process was "flawed", it is up to them to prove this.

While we who are not City fans want to see punishment if the charges are proved, those who are city fans take a very different view. "The supportersand the club's relationship with Uefa and Champions League has been toxic for years." Now I haven't seen any great sign of that, but I don't actually follow them. "My morals have been loosened by chasing success across the continent from Dortmund to Barcelona." Really? Any route you take is justified if you are successful? City fan Will Unwin has written a piece suggesting that any ban is worth it to have seen some of the players. You can read it all here. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...h-it-to-see-sergio-aguero-and-raheem-sterling
