Good to see a ‘big’ club getting mugged by VAR. Maybe if more of them get the small club treatment, there will be reviews of the system.
I suggest we have an extra man over, ready to fall to the ground at every opportunity, so we can play the luck game and maybe get a goal chaulked off. That was some serious level BS to disallow Zouma last night, & I'm frankly astounded anyone thinks that was the correct decision. Re-watch it. And then imagine the consequences of it actually being the right call. The future of the game is now firmly in the hands of some guy watching tele in Stockley Park.
For too long we have had to suffer the unfair bias of referees towards the top teams, at the expense of everyone else. Now we suffer the bias of referees, ridiculous VAR delays, the addition of useless off-pitch referees 'reviewing' decisions, and the same bias towards the top teams. The game is ****ed up big time.
Can you imagine the last day drama if there's a few teams still fighting relegation? Someone watching tele has to make a multi million pound judgement call, and we all know what they are like when the pressures on.....................they are often wrong!
Wow. I have just read Maguire’s version of events, in which he claims that the Chelsea player was falling on top of him and he just stuck his foot out to protect himself. What a crock of ****. The Chelsea player wasn’t about to fall on him. That was deliberate and should have been a red card.
But mate, you must be mistaken! Wasn't var brought in to ensure that blatantly wrong decisions aren't deciding games or teams seasons? It was absolutely essential iirc.
Since Bertys red on that sopping wet night, I've seen four identical tackles produce a yellow. Since Son was sent of for the extra leg extension kick, I've seen two produce yellows. Just where is the consistency they promised? Its too subjective, its just one mans interpretation.....and that's when they notice the incident! In a world where Ings (liverpool) isn't a pen, and Son (StMarys) is, I don't know what to think anymore.
I said right from the beginning that VAR would only work for yes/no decisions...and like it or not, offside comes in that category. Its effectiveness decreases once it comes down to matter of opinion. As for the Maguire incident...he was still sliding backwards when he raised his foot...a decision he made in a split second. Not a kick in my view. See....an opinion.
Maguire knew exactly what he was doing. Though It's one of those body reflex types ones where you dont have control over it and your body does it for you purely on instinct as protection etc... Still a red card either way though.
It’s a shame - the principle of VAR is great. The actual usage of it is awful though. I feel (cynical hat on) that the FA are interested in making it so bad that the clubs and fans will be crying out for it to be taken away. They’re only interested in underwriting their officials many of whom make dreadful decisions or allow teams to physically intimidate others without punishment (yes, that’s you, Burnley) ...... I mean Cork’s scissor tackle on JWP wasn’t even reviewed
