Maybe he wants to learn another language and experience a different culture. Good luck to both.I think we would all do the same if given the opportunity. His agent must have been setting this up for a long time so I don't think this has come about as a result of City not being able to play CL or EL football. I would also add that it prepares City fans for his departure.

When David Platt joined Bari many years ago, he took a positive attitude to learning Italian. By the time he joined Sampdiria, his new colleagues were ribbing him for his Southern Italian accent.

When Gary Lineker went to Barcelona, he learnt Spanish. As for his acquisition of Catalán I do not know. Here in Mallorca, most subjects are taught in Catalán which puts those who speak Spanish as a first language at a slight disadvantage.

 

Yes I'm sure there are other examples too but what I was trying to say was that footballers make moves here or abroad for money then a chance to win trophies, in that order.

 

You are right but when SFC´s former great (Adam Lallana) moves from Liverpool to another UK club, I am sure he will be on less money. If I recall Arteta moved from Everton to Arsenal for less money initially but with a view to winning trophies.
