Just been reading that Plymouth Raiders the basketball side in our fair City have a new owner. Billionaire Turkish bloke. He is looking to make the club the leading one in the land. According to the Herald fact checker he appears to be genuine and have both the wealth and apparent love of the game. I wonder if he would like to chuck Argyle a million or two as a sideline. Funny how the Billionaire Janner Chris Dawson never seems to do much for anything locally. You can take the man out of the market stall but you can't take the market stall out of the man.............or something like that.

Everywhere I turn these days there is a story about Coronavirus somewhere. "We are all doomed" seems to be the theme behind this and millions will die a painful death. Is it just me who doesn't quite understand the hysteria surrounding it? I get it's a new virus but don't we have one every year pretty much and call it Flu. I can't quite get my head around the difference personally. The symptoms are very similar and a load of people who have underlying medical problems die from it every year. Nobody goes into a flap about that and yet this thing is threatening to turn the world upside down and inside out. The food will run out, masses will die, nobody will be able to go to work or school and the economy will melt. In the meantime there is little news about anything else happening in the world that was happening before. Just a bit of a conspiracy theory here but is this invented to bury news and sort out stuff like Hong Kong for example which Governments couldn't sort before. Not saying there isn't a virus but is it the terrible end of mankind it is being held up to be and was it introduced by design in the first place. I only think this way because I have no faith in ANY Government not to lie and cheat it's way to remain in power anywhere in the world. Including our's.

One good thing is it has shown up our unhealthy dependence upon China to manufacture literally everything we need to have....electronics,clothing materials etc, etc.
UK companies have been seeking out other suppliers....and discovered small companies on their own door step...that have been there all the time... can supply the products that they have been depending on only from China.....buying the cheapest isn't always the best.
We seemed to have forgotten that the industrial revolution started here in this country and it was us who supplied the world once upon a time.

It was said this morning that worldwide around 0.5m people die from seasonal flu. This virus is potentially worse because nobody has any resistance to it and there's no vaccine yet. So although the percentage of people who die from it looks small enough to wonder what the fuss is about, 0.5m is still a lot of lives lost,

In addition, markets hate unquantifiable risks and that's exactly what this is. They say bull markets don't just die, something has to kill them. We've had a long, long bull run confidence from which has helped to offset worries about Trump induced trade wars and slowing growth in China. If this gets out of hand, there could be a severe impact on jobs and wealth around the world.... with the UK especially at risk because of the self inflicted woulds from Brexit

I think there is a lot not being said at the moment regarding the resignation of Home Office mandarin Sir Philip Rutnam.....the Home Office under his leadership have not done too well....Windrush is just one area that they cocked up.....these civil service mandarins seem to forget that they are not in charge...but are there to do the governments bidding and it is there job to advise not to make policy.

Priti Patel might be difficult at times and she feels that the Home Office is dragging it's feet over government policy....upsetting a civil service mandarin is not the end of the world...although Sir Philip Rutnam thinks so by throwing his toys out of the pram and going public....it shows that he is possibly not the right man for the job by having such a tantrum.

We have a number of checks and balances in the UK to prevent government maladministration or misfeasance. These are vitally important in the absence of a written constitution and include:
    • Her Majesty's Opposition to challenge the Government and its policies
    • An upper house, called the Lords for historic reasons but now largely now made up of the great and good, to review legislation
    • A politically independent Speaker of the Commons to ensure proper Parliamentary procedure
    • A permanent independent civil service, made up of professional public servants not political lackeys and lickspittles
    • An independent judiciary
    • A free press, comprising the print and broadcast media
The first of these is completely non-functional due to in-fighting in the Labour Party. The others are ALL under attack by by an extremist government pandering to the lowest instincts of the so called great British public.

Patel's proposed immigration policy is both immoral and highly damaging to the British economy. Just because a thing is popular in certain quarters does not make it right. Leaders are supposed to lead not to follow the baying rabble.

I'm with Sir Philip and all the other highly educated, honest big brains every time, even if they did go to posh schools.

Following Simon Hallett's declaration that his aim is to see Argyle established a self sustaining club in the Championship, I think think makes interesting if alarming reading.

If this is how you get to the Premiership....then forget it....a bottom half Championship club breaking even will do me....plus maybe a run to the Cup Final will be a bonus to look forward to.....and a relegation clause in every players contract.....that will keep their minds focused on their job on the pitch.

I read in the paper today that internal Govt estimates are of 100,000 virus deaths in coming months, with a peak coinciding with the end of the football season. This includes 17,000 "normal" flu deaths.

I can't see the football season finishing undisturbed.

The Labour Party are plunging into even more absurdity and stupidity.

It is being reported that they are suspending Trevor Phillips for Islamophobic comments.....this is the man who has been an anti-racism campaigner all his life.

One of the comments that they are bringing against him is his comments awhile ago about Pakistani Muslim men sexually abusing children in northern British towns.

Of course this can't be said in this absurd age of political correctness....even though it might be true.....one day we will all wake up to the stupid cult of what political correctness has been doing to this country.....it has been undermining some of the basic truths of this country and making liars and racists of those that speak the truth.

The Labour Party is becoming more like Stalin's Russia every day, with non conforming individuals denounced and ostracized. Just when we need a strong opposition to counter an extremist government, we don't have one.

Nevertheless, saying that all Muslims think the same way is foolish and dangerous. It's no more true than that all non-Muslims think the same way: Britain has never been more divided.

I don't recall Cyril Smith being a Muslim man. Or a load of other white males who have done the same. It is the singling out of a particular type that is wrong not a statement about child abuse. Call out child abusers and who they happen to be is irrelevant.

What's going on here is discrimination envy. We see it in the warfare between feminists and transgender groups, each arguing they're more discriminated against than the other.

Trevor Philips has lost if you ask me. He's been arguing in ever decreasing circles for years because he wants the focus to be on discrimination against Afro-Caribbeans rather than Muslims.

Personally, I think it's simple. All discrimination is evil and unfortunately some seem to think Brexit has legitimized it. It hasn't. It's just plain wrong.

I never quite understand how or why people become prejudiced against another or a group or race. If they had done something to them personally then I understand not liking or wanting to know that person or group of persons but to dislike or hate a whole race or complete group is just plain madness. The whole of my family, sons, daughter, wife or myself will and do speak to anyone and none look down or up to others. I have met in my time loads of very nice people from all walks of life and places on the Planet. I've also met all kinds of not so nice ones but they are a Heinz 57 variety as much as the nice ones. Life's too short for all that angst.

Being a monster like Cyril Smith doesn't detract from what Asian grooming gangs did to young white girls and women in some of our towns and cities (and still are.....that had racist reasoning)....and how our police forces failed to get on top of it because they were afraid of looking as if they were racist against Asians and especially Pakistani's.
Political correctness is becoming as an anchor and chain ...and those in authority are scared to address it because of the bleating it causes from those who think it is the way ahead......probably the effect of multiculturalism over the last few generations which has blinded the things that we once believed in the UK.

Many of the things that our parents and we their children had been brought up to believe in... as being decent, true and honest... has been thrown in the melting pot and stirred into a way of life that anything goes... and to disagree means that you obviously have racist tendencies.....just like remainers painted Brexiteers as being racists to suit their beliefs.... it is a never ending downhill spiral to the bottom.

That plym is just a whole load of bullshit and if anything proves my point about people being racist and prejudiced. This whole load of things being thrown into a melting pot and done away with is the fault of whom exactly? Pakistani? Indian? Irish? Black? What you have just stated above is that one or all of those are responsible for everything that has been either lost or lessened in this Country. Not one bit of blame goes to the people who actually originated here of course just the foreign mob who came here and buggered everything up. What an absolute load of bollox that is. Times change on everything eventually. What our Grannies thought of as bad form is far less so now because people have moderated their views over the years to be less critical and judgemental. As those views have moderated so the actions of younger people have changed with it and as our children are now the middle aged who have had children of their own it is that generation that has caused your opinion on society to form that all is not good anymore. This has nothing at all to do with nationality or origin.

There are a number of cases of groups of Asians in areas who have groomed and sexually assaulted children or more specifically young girls. There are equally a number of white men of English origin who have done exactly the same. You are virtually taring all Asians with being like that when it is blatantly rubbish. To do that and be equal you would have to therefore say that all white English men are child rapists who prey on them. That would be me and you by the way. You know that's crap so why say it about another race. It has very little to do with Political Correctness either. It's not said in the headlines because it simply isn't true. The Police did nothing much about it previously for the same reason they did nothing about Cyril Smith and Jimmy Saville amongst others. Not because they were Asian but because they simply didn't act when they should have. Who knows why. I have met a good many Police in my time work wise. Some were like you and wouldn't have thought twice about nicking an Asian. In fact they would have loved it. Sometimes I despair at my fellow man I truly do.

P.s. You can also thank the Countries these people came from originally for the wealth currently in this Country. We spent centuries steeling it off them. If we hadn't you would probably be living in a tin shack now.
