Sky Sports reporting he's out for up to eight weeks. I'm glad we beat Southampton otherwise we'd be doomed....

The coronavirus looks like postponing the rest of the season any time soon so he might be back for the remaining games.

He may be prone to the odd mistake, but he's a far cry from Karl ****ing Darlow. I'd bring Woodman back and stick him in nets.

I don't even think this season will go on honestly.

Looking more and more likely that postponement is inevitable.

Await the Liverpool fan's tears!! Run away leaders, then the league is shut down before the end of season!

They won't shut it though, Italian league is even just postponed. It will be stopped for a few weeks til the media calm down.

France and Spain league games all being played behind closed doors for next few weeks. Quite why we're not following suit is beyond me. I agree it's probably overkill but you only have to look at what's happened in Italy to see where and how quickly it can escalate to. Their PM has got it spot on in my opinion. With BoJo in charge...we're ****ed !

I don't think it would be fair to completely abandon the season. It's possible that not all games will be finished if things head towards worst case scenario, but the authorities will need to find a way of dealing with that that doesn't undo the whole season played so far. Crowning Liverpool champions would be the easy part. Nobody could reasonably dispute that they deserve it. The hard part would be dealing with promotions and relegations. It wouldn't be fair to just relegate teams who would still have an opportunity to fight their way out of it.

One solution could be to abandon the usual play offs and have play offs between the bottom three and top three of the league below in off one games with the lower league teams at home. It would still be harsh on the teams just outside the promotion places, but nothing is going to be completely fair if that happens.

As for the FA Cup? Give the last Europa League slot to 7th place this season and next season structure the cup so that the 8 still left in it this year join the cup in the last 16. It wouldn't be overly difficult to reorganise the preceding rounds to get the right numbers progressing.

Not sure I agree to be honest. The Coronavirus situation will go on much longer than a few weeks. If you start quarantining people now, by week 2/3 they'll go stir crazy and seek to find ways around it.

Parents will want to go back to work, and will start to share childcare across the street. All of a sudden your kids are all together again, just in someone's house rather than at school.

Even then though you've got 5 or so kids in one place rather than 1000+. In schools you have them grouped in 30odd then swapping around 5 to 8 times a day to different groups of 30. Plus assemblies, preschool, afterschool, sports and lunchtime when all the 1000+ mingle together. Add in drop offs, picks up and the 70-100 adults who also work there and you do have a perfect storm for passing infections.

All it could do is slow the spread though, it doesn't fix anything and unlike most of mainland Europe we are obsessed by the dollar so I don't think school closures will happen tbh.
