    A fair point.

    But I believe the virus has a limited life on surfaces, which varies according to the type of surface.
    I think the average is about 48 hours, and rarely longer than 72.

    So some supermarket packaging may have live virus on it. But in restaurants, cafe's and fast food joints the chances are some of your food will have been handled just minutes before you eat it. And ingesting infected food is more likely to infect you than handling goods bought from a supermarket, especially if you are washing your hands regularly.

    None of us can live completely risk-free, but we can think about things and make choices. No harm in erring on the side of caution I think.

    Now it appears that the virus (with a small v) can live for days outside the body, so basically it could be anywhere.

    I gather the virus's preferred habitat is Bromley <ok>… so that is best avoided :)

    Hasn’t your wallet shown traces of Coronavirus?

    Rumour is you have self isolated it for years.

    They were talking about having no teams relegated, and the top 2 from each league promoted, no league cup next season to make up the extra fixtures.

    I can also see next season being delayed by 4 weeks or so.

    If (and that's a big if) they allowed the season to spill over into June/July, there would be loads of clubs with severely depleted squads due to players being out of contract and loans expiring!!!

    The EFL would have to open the transfer window so teams can make emergency signings - would effectively put teams facing sanctions out of business!

    As far as I know, only one Champ team is under a transfer embargo

    I think the simplest thing to do would be scrap everything from last August onwards.

    The Premier League, all the EFL leagues, Non-league, Champions League, Europa League.
    Declare them all null & void, and expunge all results from the records.

    Then run the 2019-20 season again, from August or September 2020 (virus situation permitting).
    All the same fixtures in the same order.

    That's what they did after WW2.

    The 1946-47 season was simply a re-run of the 1939-40 season (which was abandoned after 3 games).
    All the same fixtures in the same order.

    If there is a fixture congestion issue, the following points might help;

    1. Don't have a League Cup competition in 2020-21.
    The 2019-20 competition had already finished by the time football was suspended this season.

    2. Let the FA Cup results from 2019-20 stand, and just continue that competition from where it left off.
    So there would be hardly any FA Cup games during season 2020-21

    3. I suppose UEFA could do the same thing for the Champions League and Europa Leagues,
    if they could swallow the loss of income from not having all the group stages.

    Force majeure refers to a clause that is included in contracts to remove liability for natural and unavoidable catastrophes that interrupt the expected course of events and restrict participants from fulfilling obligations.

    Coronavirus is Force majeure!

    Seems draconian. I'm 71 and fortunate enough to be inrude health. Who's going to come and look after my allotment? I've got a walking holiday in the Peak District arranged for next month and fully intend to go health permitting. Also going to a concert in Shepherds' Bush tonight and will use a bottle of hand sanitiser Mrs FHB found stashed away.

    The police will enforce the ban if necessary. People will have to take ID onto the streets with them, and will have to justify being out.

    In your case you could say it was a National Emergency, after you dropped a 10p piece on your way back from the allotment.

    @lardiman

    Conclude this season in August - Sept.

    Have a 6-8 week break.

    Condense next season from November onwards, playing league games only. No Cup competitions next season.
