Ah the world has the continue at some point, people act like a postponement means everything is off permanently. "Sorry, we don't think this is a good purchase anymore because of a flu pandemic. We're out." I dunno, seems to be a little shortsighted and from a place of depression than a logical opinion.
They've got till 30th June to complete the season haven't they. Then everyone's contract runs out etc. Should be okay to finish the league season. The cups may be a problem though.
A handful of weeks and they can play behind closed off pitches surely. I think it is totally doable. Matches as normal for under 60s etc. I think we'll reach a point where everyone just goes **** it tbh.
I can't see the league resuming before end of April at very latest. And for most Premier League teams they have 9 more matches without cups and competitions being added to the mix. Can't see those matches squeezed to complete the fixtures. I think people will have to start believing abandonment being a real possibility.
Suspect that they will abandon FA cup games first as these have less impact on the hugely lucrative cash payouts from Sky and would then free up more time to play league games. Teams still in Europe (Europa League and Champions League) would have to deal with the extra games using their squads. City could probably focus on Champions League and Utd and wolves would have to make the call. Presumably Sky would have the right to say we are only paying 3/4 of what was agreed as we have essentially lost a quarter of the season if the season is abandoned and I am sure the clubs would rather not have that.
