I can see why they want to project a positive, joined-up stance on this but the likelihood of getting the leagues finished by end of June (even started by then really) is pushing it. I can see a scenario whereby if the infection numbers start dropping off significantly, that the leagues agree to start games again but behind closed doors. In a way this could be a positive for football in general as it will show how important fans are to the game. In Australia, AFL and A-League games are continuing in empty stadiums and it's very odd to watch. I don't think the organisers thought it through in their desperation to keep the games on and avoid losing sponsorship / TV rights $s.
Not football / sport, apologies, but well played Croatia. The UK could and should implement something similar asap given the potential threat still to fully unleash over here.
Apparantly many coastal resorts, parks, recreation areas were heaving yesterday. What is wrong with these people
The idea to play behind is a definite no go. For safety reasons an ambulance must be on standby, with attendant staff. Really? 46 matches each match scenario not available for what is likely to be the highest demand time for the general public. But then, football is more important than the health of the public. I'm sorry, but I find the FA arrogant beyond belief.
Japan has asked for the Olympics to be postponed for a year. Aus & Canada had already said they'd not be sending teams and I suggest many more would have followed suit.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has donated 1m euros (£920,000) to fight the coronavirus outbreak in Spain. Guardiola, who is at his home in Barcelona, has been working with his lawyers over the past few days to work out the best way of using the money. It will go to a campaign being promoted by the Medical College of Barcelona and the Angel Soler Daniel Foundation. Well done Pep. Would be nice to see players making similar gestures.
Been listening to radio a lot in the last week or so. Caroline, CDNX and NME 1 in particular. Album tracks and (often) really cool newer stuff, too. CDNX (Camden Experience) has no DJs, no ads, no bull...just wall to wall music
It would be nice to hear from the club regarding pausing of season ticket payments. They are still taking £70 + a month for next seasons ticket from me. Newcastle supporters forum have complained to their club regarding this, but not heard the outcome. With many supporters struggling to pay bills,it would be a reasonable guesture by the club to offer this,to anyone who needed to suspend payments untill we have a better idea when next season will start. Not holding my breath on this one though.
That's it then. Webber is leaving to take over as manager at Birmingham City. Seriously, that was an interesting interview.
