https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...aboul-shock-sunderland-departure-17979449.amp “I was gutted. I was kind of like depressed to leave the football club. I knew I wasn’t just leaving the football club, I was leaving the city and the people. So it was really difficult for me."
No more than 'sweet words' imho - he didn't have to leave but, by his own admission, made TWO transfer requests!
Nice to know he enjoyed his time at the club. It was widely known at the time that he left for family reasons. Can't blame him for that, sometimes you have to make sacrifices for what's important.
And the first real time since Reidy's team that I felt real optimism about what could be achieved and not just scraping relegation. Thanks English FA and Mr Moyes
Kaboul surprised everyone by even coming here, but when he finally did, it was worth the wait, he was immense, as were all the K's that featured under Big Sam, but his contribution was as great as M'Vila's imo and I rate none higher than that, so sad it all ended so quickly, as a dream team in the making was transformed into a nightmare by DD.
I think it was after the Everton home game, and the camera was on Kaboul walking off the pitch with Defoe. Kaboul was buzzing but looked stunned by the atmosphere. It looked like Defoe said to him something like 'See, I told you'.
We had the makings of a proper, proper side there didn’t we. Mad to think 3 years on and we are here. Madness.
The only positive I can focus on is that at least Sunderland weren't at the top of the league by a margin. You could guarantee the league would be cancelled then. At the moment there's still the home things will come back into play at some point and promotion can be achieved but if the reset button gets pressed it's not the end of the world either - more important things and all that.
The implications are too big for the big leagues, our season will be finished there’s no question, next season will be delayed or cancelled depending on timescales. Th FA won’t give up the TV money back to Sky and BT so they must finish season. Losing that money would kill the league, it’s one thing saying they can’t live without gate money, all but the top 6 would immediately be untenable without the TV money.
I remember Big Sam beating his chest on the lap of honour like it was yesterday. We were stepping up. Only we could get that totally and royally shat on for a man to have one game as England gaffer. Sam loved it here you could see it, but he always said England was his dream. Gutting really ain’t it.
Yeah it's gutting alright, as a Sunderland fan you get used to things not going your way but that was a particularly bitter pill. One game
That was one of the best nights of my life after the Everton match Ended up dancing on the tables in the deaf club Should've knan we'd get kicked in the bollocks
Crazy isn’t it. That’s when Short threw in the towel. Well, he had a half hearted attempt to back Moyes but he’d had enough. Has their ever been a fall and decline so rapid? Leeds?
Just had another thought has anyone seriously thought what we would do “ supporters “ if the club actually went out of business, strange bloody times mate.
