I have read somewhere that non playing staff are getting laid off? If so, that smells of financial trouble. But we are not the only club in that position.
It makes sense really. If the club can't really operate as normal, the government will step in and pay 80% of the wages of people who are furloughed. Even a relatively healthy business would be foolish not to use that at a time like this.
Haven't heard about them laying people off, Downie tweeted they are paying the additional 20% to top us the government's 80%
This 80% pay gets bandied about a lot but like other bullshit promises government make, has anyone actually got it or know anyone that does ?
Well I know people who has it but the company have to pay them 100% first and then the government are repaying the company 80% from 2 weeks time
Yeah it's not up and running, but if a company can afford to pay it (as SAFC likely can) then they can know it'll be backdated until it's rolled out properly as an ongoing scheme. I don't think this is a sign of much re: overall finances. Premier league clubs will soon be doing the same.
If you're employed, your employer claims the money back. You get paid as normal (maybe reduced to 80% or if, as Sunderland are doing, the full 100%), tax etc is deducted as normal and they claim back the reimbursement from the government. The limit on what they can claim back for each employee per month is £2,500 gross.
Yes, it's working for at least three that I know, so it's not bullshit like you think . . . . the government is doing what it can to look after us, despite what some that want it to fail think (unless you think that it should go from nothing, because of this entirely unprecedented situation, to instant payments 'cos it doesn't need time to be set up)
I never said it was bull, i was asking, and why would i want it to fail ? Some other things the government has "promised" aren't quite as rosy as Boris paints a picture
i can’t link mate but it’s in the thread called Derby in talks with Michael Dell. It could just be nonsense and just hints.
One of my mates got furloughed earlier this week. Company are paying them their wages and are getting the refunds from the government. Additionally, he said it was for at least 3 weeks and is guaranteed up to 12 weeks. However, his boss has said that if it went the full 12 weeks, likelihood is there wouldn't be a company left for the lads to go back to.
He's a bit of a character isn't he. Comes on making substantial claims that are quite easy to disprove, like Donald having paid back the loan some time ago. Then, he'll vanish for a few days then come back shouting at people and calling them idiots for misunderstanding what he'd said. It's happens time and again but he has a clique of people who back him up and claim he's genuine. He should be encouraged imo, we all need a laugh at the moment.
Unfortunately, they're not obliged to pay over the 80%, this site is one of the best and clearest I've found to explain things https://www.farrer.co.uk/news-and-insights/blogs/coronavirus-job-retention-scheme-the-details/#
