Bernie Sanders clashed with his Republican colleagues as the US Senate debated a historic $2.2tn relief package last Wednesday night. Four senators had objected the negotiated coronavirus stimulus bill because it provided an additional $600 a week in unemployment benefits to the poorest Americans. And, because of political strategy in the USA, there are an awful lot of them. Go Bernie:

I saw a brief comment, this morning, saying that South Korea, having curbed the growth of the virus, has now experienced a spike in new infections.
No reason given, but it was centred around a call centre.

It's alright mate, this country has had enough of experts.

In fact as I remember, it was Gove who told us that.

Wasn't going to post this, but 1] I found it quite amusing, and 2] it contains more Bernie Sanders truths:

Sorry to hear that Beddy, but as has been said, you’re probably better off there than you would be back home. I hope you’re OK!

As Chilco said Beddy, you're probably better off where you are. The next two weeks here are going to be rough, if you are able to stay longer it has to be better for you.
Just looked at the figures. In Australia there have been 3,966 confirmed cases and 16 have died. In the UK there have been 19,522 confirmed cases and 1,223 have died.

Yes thanks mate.........if we can renew our visa that’s probably what we we going to do. Because of the reciprocate agreement with Uk I have joined Medicare out here so I can get my medication. I am in constant touch with my consultant at the hospital via his secretary in the uk. So no real problems there as long as I can get the medication.

Seems to be my Bernie Sanders day. Here he is on The Tonight Show, with Jimmy Fallon, who I kind of like too. As usual, Bernie tells it how it is, and shows he's still up for the long game:

Actually, there are a few videos from this interview. Click on the Youtube logo to go to the source.

This may have been mentioned elsewhere, but farmers are now highlighting the lack of seasonal workers, so crops may 'rot in the fields'.

Luckily, the loss of overseas workers willing to work for low wages, caused by the British people's desire to keep out foreigners, is bound to be more than compensated for, by the hordes of British workers, desperate to toil in the fields, for little money. It's good to know that the Brexit majority is finally bearing fruit. Or not, as the case may be.

Yeah, Chilco mentioned during last year's harvest. Already there were a dirth of pickers, and a lot of produce died on the trees and bushes.

Market Forces is the answer. Pay people £15 an hour and they will beat a path to your fields.

News Updates From Around The World

Aides to Australian prime minister Scott Morrison have stepped up their pressure for him to reduce his contribution to the Covid-19 crisis, by keeping his big mouth shut. This would reduce the amount of bullshit pollution by an estimated 93%. Medical experts say it’s too early to tell if this will have any affect on the spread of the virus, but added that the lack of Scott Morrison generated ****wittery can only be a good thing for the mental health and general well being of the population.

President Donald Trump is continuing to play his favourite game of ‘Praise and Worship Me’ with the citizens of the USA. He is refusing to release desperately needed ventilators to the people of New York and accusing NY hospitals of selling medical equipment out the back door. The mayor of New York pretty much told him to shove it up his fat useless arse and they will get the ventilators elsewhere. Ventilators from China now on the way to NY.

In a further development, the orange haired idiot is now threatening to militarize the American/Canadian border with guns, troops and missile launchers in a desperate attempt to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. That should do it.

Vice president Mike Pence and the Church of Evangelical Magical Thinking **** Pots have assured the president, during a laying-on-of-hands prayer meeting in the White Rabbit Hutch, there is a special place in heaven reserved for them and he should press on with God’s work.

Secretary (of a truly ****ed up) state, Mike Pompeo is still hurling a constant stream insults towards China, calling Covid-19 “The Wuhan”, or “Chinese Virus”. This is being met with bewildered silence, a measure of dignity and a willingness from China to send medical supplies to the USA.

Michael Gove has repeatedly stated.....nothing of any interest at all really. However, he was observed to execute perfectly choreographed body swerves, immaculate side-slips and an uncanny ability to avoid answering any question put to him regarding NHS equipment shortages. Michael Gove is adamant that 5,000 tests of front line NHS staff is actually the 10,000 promised tests. “The numbers are not the whole story” he assures us.

Laura Kuenssberg and Andrew Marr continue to demonstrate they are about as useful at journalism as wet paper bags. They willingly swallowed the ‘China Are Responsible For This Crisis’ nonsense being spewed out from the Covid-19 infected Downing Street. Our esteemed government have now added, ‘There Will Be A Reckoning’.

On that one point, they are right. There certainly will be.
