Didn't read Astro's suggestion. I read your insistence the league should be written off. There is no chance this will happen imo, too much money involved.
In case you didn't notice the next season needs the results of the current one to start so it's automatically ****ed until the current finishes
No it doesn't, if this one is voided then the starting point reverts to the start of this season. Nobody wins anything because nothing is completed, nobody loses anything because nothing is completed. One exception would be City who have already won a pot but i feel sure they will be fine giving that up for the good of all.
So do all transfers go back to their old clubs? Sacked managers rehired? Does everyone get their money back for a season of nothingness? Next season would be tainted if Norwich were allowed to affect it despite being completely undeserving of taking part.
I’m not insisting it should be written off. I just think the most likely situation is that it ends up happening. You’re right that because of the money involved they’ll try as hard as they can to get it done, but at the point where it’s going to mess with next seasons money that becomes less relevant. If a deal gets done that X amount is lost by this season not finishing but next season is fine. But the alternative is Y amount is lost from next seasons revenue but this season is fine. When Y is greater than X the financial argument shifts position.
No because the summer break and transfer window would not be impacted. After all the whinging your manager (and in fairness others) have done about the amount of games we cram into a season how do you propose to fit next season in after prolonging this one? No Break for players? (they need one) No full pre-season? (lets see who moans about that when their team gets off to a bad start) Scrap domestic cups? (the life blood of many lower league teams, also a good revenue stream from TV rights, Sponsorship of said cups and for lower leagues pitch side advertising) Maybe we should scrap European competitions, this will only impact on a handfull of teams in the top flight of each European league, could be a choice for one season. Which do you prefer?
People with common sense and those who would rather watch a full proper season than watch this one limp to a finish.
Since what is not United You do know we are in with a chance of two cups and have two chances of gaining CL this season (which we won't have if the season gets cancelled).
What are you talking about? There's no need to "fit" next season into anything. Apparently the only part of life that people are not willing to change because of the coronavirus is their belief that football seasons must start in August and end in May.
This season exists, next season doesn't which is why you finish what you've started before you create something else. There is no guarantee there will even be a next season so yeh, let's bin off the one that's nearly finished ..... why, just why? It's the most nonsensical argument in this whole debate.
So when will it start and end? Your manager seems to think we have too many games as it is so when do you propose to fit a whole season, break for the players and full pre-season in (not forgetting the Euro's and WC qualifiers) without impacting the season after that? Regardless of what month a season starts and finishes it only leaves room for 3 weeks break for the players, most people expect a few more holidays than that in a year.
It starts after the current season ends and there's been some break (probably not a huge one since the players are on a bonus break right now). It ends after all teams have played each other twice. If a major international tournament takes place during those 38 games, the league stops until it's over, just like it's already planning to do for the World Cup.
So from now on we just keep playing seasons on a rolling basis, starting in whatever month that year allows all so Liverpool can get a title closer to United? So ****ing sad
So we just entirely shift every future season to no longer fit to a set time of year? Every season starts and finishes at random based on when it can get finished, we don’t align anything with the rest of Europe and we have transfer windows at random points of the season, different each year. Yeah that seems like a good option. Doesn’t seem like desperation to finish this season at all costs just because Liverpool are going to win it. If it’s going to be finished there at least needs to be a coherent plan, not just “let’s start playing and hope everything works out”
