Yes it is. However it’s not all domestic. UEFA will ultimately decide what happens here, when it finally has to make a call at some point in the coming months, as it’s their view on the future of the current CL / EL and the criteria for qualification for next years competition, that’ll push the domestic leagues into line.

I'm really not going to get involved with this argument because I, like the rest of you, have no idea what's going to happen and no way of influencing it.
However, I'm curious as to why you find those dates so unacceptable? It seems to betray an inflexible mind-set that can't grasp anything outside of the rigid, compartmentalised framework it's used to.
Either that, or you'll just say anything at all to try and lend a spurious authority to your own opinion.
With that, I'm off to bed, because this argument is mind-numbingly dull as far as I'm concerned.
Night all, and stay safe. <ok>

If you are looking to finish this season there are several ways that 9 games can be played out as are currently being looked into. One suggestion being a behind closed doors scenario which if all health precautions are taken for those involved would work. The integrity of the league is maintained and the real placings etc. decided. The season is unlikely to be completed in front of fans but who knows, it may actually be a possibility, nobody really knows.

A new season starting with no fans is less likely than finishing this one behind closed doors.

There’s actually 13 rounds of domestic games to be played as some teams have 10 league games and there are 3 rounds of the FA Cup left. Or does integrity only matter for the league and not the cup? Maybe because Liverpool aren’t in the cup :bandit:

Tbh I’d love to have a burst of games to watch on TV if they somehow manage to cram them all in at some point this summer. As time goes on it’s going to get really boring being at home!

I don’t get how it maintains the integrity of the league though if there is a rushed format, with no fans, played after a huge gap in the season. For me the integrity of this season is already ****ed regardless of how it gets concluded.

The main argument for finishing the league is firstly about money and secondly about giving people entertainment at a time when everyone is stuck at home and getting depressed. The integrity thing is a smoke screen by the league to not blatantly say it’s about the money and used by fans of clubs who have the most to lose in relation to expected results (teams like Liverpool and Leeds).

If you're in extra competitions you can play games within 24 hours of each other. Or is that condition only supposed to be forced on Liverpool this season?

Liverpool played 9 games in 25 days in December (winning 8 of them), but now the integrity of the league is at risk if other clubs have to do the same <laugh>

The suggestion of the behind closed doors central location for all games to be played, doesn’t maintain any integrity of the league whatsoever, and is all about the money.

As teams would lose the crucial home advantage for a start off, having played the reverse fixture in normal circumstances. This could impact significantly on those trying to avoid the drop, as they’d lose both home advantage and the backing of their fans. It’s an awful suggestion in terms of integrity of the league.

When it was Liverpool there was outrage that games would be played so close together, presumably by you as well. And there are multiple managers who complain about fixture congestion, so you’re highlighting a good point in relation to how difficult it will be to play fixtures over a shorter timeframe <ok>

And the FA said "nothing we can do about it, just a tough situation" and Liverpool got on with it. And there wasn't even a health crisis at that time.

Liverpool continue to be the inspiration to others both on and off the field. <ok>

So even if all teams have to play that frequently (at a level your fans and manager, along with other managers complain is too many games in quick succession, and only occurred because you had the opportunity to play multiple competitions) it’ll need 5 weeks of play time to finish the season plus however long is deemed necessary to get match fit.

Too many games under normal conditions, year after year. Not a one off crisis. And Liverpool still did it.

But fair enough I know you're worried other clubs can't show the same level of professionalism as Liverpool.

Other clubs don’t have the same resources and a couple of injuries due to overplaying would likely signal relegation for certain teams. I get it, you only care about Liverpool winning the league, but don’t pretend like the solutions are viable or the only fair way forward.

Norwich started their game with City at the start of the season with a first 11 that cost 6.45million.

Liverpool have individual players that cost over 10 times that amount.

Salah gets paid more than Norwich’s top 11 earners combined.

To try and post stats to spin the idea that Liverpool don’t have way more resources than the teams at the bottom of the league is ****ing retarded.

Independent reporting CL final to be played behind closed doors with voiding the season "off the table".

UEFA and the collective European leagues are committed to completing 2019/20 domestic and continental seasons before 2020/21 begins and are now actively planning for the major showpiece finals to be played behind closed doors, with voiding the campaign "off the table".

......all parties are fully aligned with the English view that the campaign must be completed whenever that is. ...... the reasons for the stance on completing 2019/20 are financial; sporting integrity; the mass complications that come with ending seasons prematurely and also the knock-on effect on the many jobs connecting to the game.

Many clubs are in urgent danger. Survival concerns are thereby the greatest motivation but there is also a deeper awareness that the longer term future of the game itself is dependent on protecting its integrity - something that would be entirely compromised if the 2020/21 season starts based on arbitrary decisions and positions. Several sources maintain that the logistical concerns are such that it would actually be easier to try and complete the season - whenever that might be - than adapt regulations and work out solutions to end campaigns prematurely or void them. There is a realisation it opens legal and technical minefields.

Don't know how to do link on my phone but article goes on to say 2 working groups have been set up by UEFA one to look at finances, player contracts etc. and one looking at logistics. There is a need for flexibility because the virus situation is different in each country so universal solutions are impossible but all want the same outcome, the season to be completed and wide acceptance that next season will be truncated.
