Even if it goes through it would take years to get those kind of players. It will give is 1st pick of players the elite are not too keen on and of course old mercenaries.
Think that's it now as far as reports... all we will get is ryder repeating the same story in a different order.
I am feeling like another false dawn on this all. I can’t but help think Ashley will **** it up. I actually think he needs the cashflow.
I'm worried ashley will turn down the bid even if its what he asked for tbh... i prey he doesnt push his luck instead of cashing out. other than that there's this pandemic .. the timing of the virus could only happen to nufc amid a takeover of such a massive club changing magnitude.. we will turn from poundland into harrods overnight
Is no one else constantly wondering, if all this is legit and the interest is real, with them apparently worth over a trillion. Why isn’t there ever a “PIF submit £340 million bid to take over Newcastle” or however much it will be. Like reporters are saying, if they’ve got all this money why not just make a bid, what’s the reason why they aren’t? At the end of the day Ashley will either accept or reject, or negotiate. So just make a bid for the club man!
They may have but it cannot be disclosed due to a Confidentiality Agreement. I do suspect any previous "leaks" have come from Ashley's side as each time they have occurred they have been at a time which it is beneficial for Ashley for one reason or another eg season tickets, bad publicity etc to distract from what is/was going on.
In respect of journalists, my take is this: Lee Ryder only gets information he's "allowed" to have. When Ashley/Barnes decides it's ok to release snippets like "tyre kickers" or "remain sceptical", that's when Ryder hears about it. He remains a media outlet for the club - he had a falling out with NUFC about ten years ago or so and the Chron were admonished by Ashley for their reporting. They had to peel it back quite a bit and now only Douglas puts his name to the more anti-Ashley headlines. So when Ryder says something, it's coming from sources Ashley allows, hence why it's always tentative/negative. Caulkin, Waugh et al, openly despise Ashley and have never sought access to SJP because they are only too aware that it's of no interest. Banal soundbytes from Bruce mean nothing, so they choose to seek information elsewhere and report it based on standard journalism efforts. So their information on the takeover is sourced from within the PL, within Staveley's camp, and so on. The issue, of course, is Ashley. He's never going to say anything, nor will he allow his mouthpiece Ryder to publish anything revealing or optimistic. Similarly, I'd imagine Staveley is being told one thing by Ashley but he's quite capable of acting differently. So the bottom line is Ryder is likely the least reliable source of tidbits but if things become official may well be the one to break the news. The rest are almost certainly on the right lines, but are always open to Ashley doing something stupid/random and the whole thing falling apart. At which point nobody will comment, except Ryder who will publish something like "Ashley said along he was sceptical and so the outcome is as expected".
