Can anyone tell me who the sour faced little methven bumboy is? The miserable looking prick who seems to follow him around?
I have only watched two episodes so far but it was obvious from the off that Maja was angling to leave, he let us down big time, but that's football today, they all cant be like O/9 sadly. The mooted 15m for Maja is a snip, and only rubs salt into the wound, Coleman was the real agent of destruction here, both Maja and Assoro were better at the time, than the rubbish he brought in on loan, yet they were given no chance. A mistake that cost him and us dear.
Maybe it's been commented on already but dilligaf? Looks like Ellis Short was at the Checkatrade final. Good guy afterall?
I remember him saying he would still go to games and thinking he was talking bullshit but I believe he has been to quite a few. He must be a masochist.
Seen all of it now. Might have to watch it again to see if anything changes my mind on the opinions I formed first time round. A bit like the first series, I would have liked it to dig a little bit deeper. The main thing that I got from it is that the way the club was run before Donald and Methven arrived, and to some extent since, doesn't match the size of the club. I was very surprised at how amateurish it seemed. They did show people that were clearly very good at their jobs and hard working, but the overall feeling was not one that I would imagine in one of the ten biggest football clubs in the country. Despite their obvious good intentions, even the people that Donald and Methven brought in didn't seem to change that.
His agent was in it for his own best interests and promised Maja parents a wad of cash if he agreed to move.
Having watched it, it is clear that the criticism SD got for ‘letting’ Maja leave was unfair. You can tell by his shifty Maja was when questioned - he was always going to go. Maybe his agent is to blame but he hardly expressed his life for the club and desire to stay. Probably did cost the club promotion but I don’t see what could have been done. The agent wanted a fee out of the move and Maja trusted him more than his own judgement. End of.
I don't wish that on him, but I would shed few tears. Football is a rat race and he jumped ship leaving us up the creek without a paddle. Not his fault the club is run so poorly that circumstances gave him the perfect opportunity, but he certainly took it with both hands. IF and its a big IF we have a sell on clause in the contract, I hope that he goes on and repays his dept to the club as £1.5 million was a joke for such a talented striker, as he undoubtedly is, and I said this at the time..
I enjoyed that love to see what really happens behind the scenes at the club but nee where near as good as Premier passions
Well I have now watched the whole series and it confirms my view that SD meant the best but basically he was out of his depth and didn’t have enough money. But a lot of the criticism of him has been out of order. Situation was a **** show. A lot was done to improve things. And clearly SD and CM could see what the issues were with Ross - they just couldn’t fix them. What shocked me was how staggeringly poor a lot of the staff were. Totally lacking in any enthusiasm. Have seen a bunch of complaints about the way CM spoke to the Irish lass at half-time on Boxing Day. But if you had run a massive campaign to have the record attendance in League One and had to go out on the pitch at half time in front of 46,000 people - would you be thrilled with one of your senior marketing people not moving heaven and earth to give you an approximate number to announce? I would have gone nuts as well. Like he said, it doesn’t have to be exact. It just needs to be in the ball park.
just watched it all. Although obviously edited a lot. Like him or loathe him I thought Methven, despite his obvious spin, spoke a lot of sense in the fact the our club was on a downward spiral and somewhat lethargic. He aimed criticism at Ross's tactics He's outspoken and a bit of a twat But sometimes the truth hurts
Agree with all of that apart from the bit about the Irish girl. There was absolutely no need for him to speak to her like that.
For all we know that error on her part may have been the straw that broke the camels back. When he called her over she knew what he was after as she said "the number?" without him even having to ask. regardless of whether it was important in the grand scheme of things, it was to her boss and she should have been doing everything in her power to have it for him.
Still don't think there was any need for him to speak to her like. You can be firm with people and reprimand them without swearing at them and being condescending like that.
I agree that he could have handled things differently but we all rect different under pressure. Her parting comment of "if you get them you get them" or something like that showed that she didn't give a toss. It would appear that we've had far too many of that type at the club for too long. She's probably a really nice lass and maybe she didn't want to put pressure on the ticket office but at the end of the day, her boss wanted the number and therefore it was her job to actually put the pressure on the ticket office.
Definitely agree that things haven't been working well enough within the club for a long time. I don't think the way Methven appears to handle people is the best way to change that, and the exchange at the Bradford game just seemed to exemplify what the rest of the programme showed.
I guess that's his style. Would anyone have thought he was out of line if he was an RSM and the lass was a squaddie?
