Really? Ties up with this - https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...-process-and-states-why-he-would-stay-2533865
It seems that he is a reluctant seller, talks dribbling on... Probably a Cashley sort of saga that has been going on for years with the skunks Except Cashley has money(?), whereas Donald we are led to believe does not have the funds to bankroll us?
After listening to that podcast, in my opinion we are not close to being sold, hes still dangling the bait of Americans to the fans if we succeed this season and openly said he'd go back for more fire power from them if needed in the championship. Also proves Bob is full of s**t and they are still involved.
It may not be entirely new but it's different to what you've been saying .... "I've said it b4 but imo forget about FPP, if they wanted to buy us it would have been done and dusted." Besides, its new in as much that Donald suggested their involvement was over ... ... and also contradicts Madbob's insistence that their money was paid back ages ago.
Tell you what mind as much as I'd love them to take over us and be buzzing over it I would also have a little chuckle to myself to all those idiots who were jizzing in their pants hoping it would fall through just to say see Reiver was talking ****. Imagine being that petty youd prefer saying I told you so on the internet over having he best thing thappen to our club in a long time. Just dont get it..
Letter to the fans on safc from Donald, anyone else think it’s abit strange these have both come out the same day??
They were still having a go at me yesterday, but gone very quiet this morning ... .... like when I offered a bet of £1000 about FPP, it was like I'd thrown a stun grenade in there
I don't want to be right for my own benefit mate ... ... I love the club, and all the decent supporters, so want what's best for them.
If you haven't heard it, he actually said: 'My preference is to stay, hold on to the club and as we become successful, talk to the guys who've invested since we move in (FPP) and say 'can we have a bit more firepower once we get to the Championship?' - That was the plan.' Then 'If the fans said to me tomorrow 'stay', and the guys from America would completely engage - which I would hope they would if we could get a little bit more success - then I'd love to stay and Charlie would love to stay.' Let's not get carried away, this is not him saying the Americans are ready to do anything.
" .... talk to the guys who've invested since we move in (FPP)" So the loan's been converted back into investment ... ... it's the most flexible loan in the history of finance. On the positive side Donald isn't saying FPP have no further interest in the club which is what many were claiming.
It's quite quickly after the furloughing of players has been announced, I suppose. The tone of the letter suggests that Donald knows that the sentiment towards him has changed after STID 2. I don't know what to make of him mentioning the Americans again. "So the loan's been converted back into investment ... ... it's the most flexible loan in the history of finance."
I think this just cements where we are here. Donald took this loan because he felt that he wanted to sell the club to FPP as an ideal choice. Those were the terms they offered. he believes (presumably based on the initial negotiations) that they would be happy to come on board to a greater degree if we get success, but the implication of what he said is clear - it's a long shot for them to buy us in L1. The issue with FPP is that if we really are sold by the end of the month, it doesn't sound like it'll be to them. If we're not, his plan continues and he's banking on getting to their tipping point to invest properly in us (not the loan, but converting it to actual shares) before the end of next season.
I just don't see the semantics of it being that important now that we can see a reasonable amount of the paperwork. We know it's a loan and we know it can be converted one day if it needs to be. We need to get promoted though, that much seems abundantly clear. If there was any chance of them coming on board without promotion, he'd be singing it from the rooftops to get us onside again. He knows he can't make that promise and then get to September and they're nowhere to be seen, so he's dangling the carrot that if we stick with him, that's the best chance of FPP coming on board.
