    It's a real shame isn't it.

It's been heartwarming pretending we're all in it together but, sadly, we're not ...

... scumbag football players and entitled politicians will always think they're above the rules.

Leopards don't change their spots because there's a virus going round.

And we know who the Tories will turn on to pay for this when it's over.... We the "plebs" as they call us, prepare yourself for another ten years of austerity wage freezes and decimation of public services. We are all in it together though...

The sad thing is that you just know they'd carry on doing it if they weren't caught.

They really do think we’re thick . Are we expected to believe that any MP or their staff members don’t already own a laptop ? The Times said the money is also to help with extra heating costs . It’s April , people are turning their heating off . If they were in London , their family would be heating the home anyway . Even if they do need extra heating at home , isn’t this compensated by what they’re saving not heating second home in London? And the rules for expenses proof have been relaxed - obviously the virus makes it too difficult to staple receipts to the expenses claim form . Was their an offer of free laptops and help with extra utility bills for everyone else told to home work . The MPs will spend the money for the sake of it , laptops for family members etc

The amount of money is irrelevant, it's peanuts in the grand scheme of things.

But it just grates when these people take their turn on the lecture lecturn ...

... "Yes we're all suffering during this lockdown."

No you're not ffs, you're not going short of anything ...

... and you're not even staying at home like we have to.

How does a minister decide that, during a national crisis, he should abandon the capital and swan off to his country mansion.

If it was a sitcom, about a dopey upper class Tory, this clown would walk into the part.

Jenrick simply has to be sacked, no excuses at all. As a life long Labour man, I have been impressed with the Tory reaction to this crisis, but if they let this slide it would send a terrible message to the country.

It is peanuts amongst the billions the crisis is costing , nevertheless £6.3 million would buy a fair few masks for the nhs staff, or other places where elderly and vulnerable could be helped . I wonder how much work they’re doing at home to keep 100% pay. I sent a suggestion to my MP via his website 6 days ago , not even an auto acknowledgment .

I worked from home in a Civil Service IT dept back in the 90s and confirm what you say BUT there was a possibility of offsetting the additional cost of using your home for work against Income Tax. The criterion IIRC was there was no alternative but to work from home as suitable office base was not available which I presume is the case for most telecommuters atm? There may have been other criteria but probably worth a look for anyone who is working from home.

Just watching the news and they are reporting how New York are having to bury unclaimed bodies in mass graves. They've cut a trench into the soil about 20ft wide by 10 ft deep and about 50 ft long. They are stacking them about 5 high and two wide then are shovelling soil on them, it's like watching a newsreel from a Horror movie

There's along way to go with this horrible virus so keep safe everyone and look after the people that matter to you.

Thanks mate. I never knew this and I'll do some research but in all honesty it'll be peanuts return. And quite frankly I'm getting paid 100% wage for about 30% work outputs ( one of the constraints of working from home). So I feel 'lucky' in comparison to others

all over europe you have to pay for health, here in Germany prescriptions are payable, the better the health you want the more you pay. the health service has been underfunded for years by all governments. the only way forward is to name and shame all people on the fiddle, and pay it all back ,be it lords ministers fraudsters, indeed failure to repay ever penny should be a mandatory minimum 5 years without early parole, and more for the greater fraud. our lot are all too soft with spongers.

The problem with taxation is that the super rich and global corporations avoid it perfectly legally as the the system is skewed to allow them to do so. Nobody becomes a billionaire by paying their fair share of tax. Ban private health care and private education and you would suddenly find that standards improve overnight. The Tory government (who are all millionaires) have run the NHS into the ground because they don't need or use it, same with education and the welfare system. Ricky Gervais says he can't understand all the problems the rich have with tax. He earns an amount of money and pays 40% of that in tax at the end of the financial year, job done. He's worth a couple of hundred million and says he can live a very good life on that.

You have to pay for prescriptions here. It's £9.15 per item.
