I see their is a campaign to make Capt. Thomas Moore a Sir.. I say beware.. Sir Thomas More was sentenced to death and executed.
95 % of Americans are as thick as **** just like the British. Be honest if the Americans had brains Trump would never have been elected President and if more Brits had brains we would have been saved from the joint disasters of Brexit and a Tory ****ing government. I am even more worried now that I have heard that Johnson has had a breakdown his having been overwhelmed by the responsibility of office.
95 % of Americans are as thick as **** _____________ oh I don't know, we seem to have a fair amount of ****s as well.
Little update from work this morning. I'm afraid I nearly lost it with a colleague. He didn't have a face mask on and hadn't for as long as I'd noticed. I called out to him, and pointed to my mask. He came over. "What's the point? he said. "So-so doesn't wear one, and that new person [he pointed to a person I've mentioned before] just wears it like a chinstrap". He was dead right, of course. "Why have a go at me?" The thing is, this face mask wearing can suffer because of peer pressure. This colleague saw a couple of people not wearing a face mask and he decided to join them. It is unpleasant to wear them long-term, after all. So I appealed to his sense of doing the right thing. That was, that he is instructed by the company to wear a face mask and gloves when he enters the building, to prevent the possibilty of spreading the virus. Plus, I mentioned that I cover for 5 mature OAPs [sadly, 4 of them Brexit voters, but I digress] shopping and external needs. He's a good guy, and just smiled. Then went over to where the face masks are supplied and put one on correctly. He then gave me a thumbs-up. I believe that right thinking people don't want to run the risk of possibly infecting others, and indirectly killing older citizens. They just forget the implications of their actions, and sometimes they can be swayed by others' independent actions. Wrong thinking people? You are always going to get people who think they know better, despite zero evidence on their part. For example, let's start with those protesters in America shouting "USA".
The reasoning behind these American protests are the same as their reasoning behind guns for all. Goes right back to the War of Independence and their fear of government and their belief in free will. We can all respect their idea of freedom, but sometimes you need a smattering of logic as well.
It's going to be interesting to see how the USA deals with the on-going lockdown. It's rapidly turning into a Federal vs State battle of wills with King Orange the Turd inciting the right wing nut jobs to protest against the lockdown in States with mostly Democrat Governors. The majority of American citizens are in favour of maintaining the lockdown until the situation stabilises. The biggest problem is that most Americans are armed and this whole thing could get very ugly, very quickly. The response to the virus in America seems to be to buy even more guns and ammo. It's a completely insane situation but there are a lot of very frightened people over there. A few friends I keep in touch with in the USA are deeply troubled by the developments. They say there are no reassurances coming from the dysfunctional administration, just garbled messaged that vary from one day to the next and none of them make any sense. The for profit health service is in meltdown, with many hospitals refusing to treat people without sufficient medical insurance and some hospitals are closing because there is no profit in dealing with A&E admissions. Unemployment is running towards 25 million, and set to increase, and there is very little help being given to the general public. Most of the money being dished out is going straight to the corporations and banks and people are really frightened that the country could descend into massive civil conflict. Covid-19 might well be the catalyst that breaks American society because the number of people who are falling into poverty is now so vast that something has to give. Middle America is at the point where it is ceasing to exist and is just an extension of the low income poverty stricken belt that has lost hope of ever having a decent standard of living. It’s a huge disaster and many Americans can’t see a way out of it.
It's going to be interesting to see how the USA deals with the on-going lockdown _______________________ Not just the USA. I'm starting to feel pretty resentful of the comfortable retired generation sneering at me as I go for a walk. How dare I risk their health as I escape for my sanity, to get some much needed fresh air. I feel them stare at me. I see them sneer. Stay in, save the NHS, lose your business, lose your home, spend forever paying this money back. You'd think they would show a little bit of appreciation for what my generation are giving up. But all I see is old resentful gits, moaning about what the Tories have taken from them. I feel more sorry for the people in their 20's, saddled with debt, no chance of owning a house, putting up with people who have lived a good life lording it over them. Times are changing. People should stop moaning.
Here’s some information from Spain on Friday. This info is put out by members of the Guardia Civil, on a Facebook page for the British. New infections are exceeding recovery, but I don’t know if that is normal. It does raise questions, in my mind, about the slacking off of the lockdown too quickly. Coronavirus - FRIDAY 17th April. I wonder how many Americans you know to make such an idiotic comment like that. You see, if I were to go by what you write on this forum I could be excused for thinking you are a pompous, obnoxious, prick, but that would be wrong to do that because I don't know you, thankfully.
