I still have my Subbuteo up in the loft. Quality game. I was still playing it regularly into my late 20s and after marriage and kids, only when my best friend and I would get the families together. Then the Subbuteo cloth (and by then it was fixed to a piece of board) would come out and we’d end up arguing over some dodgy decision. Best game we ever had was never finished. We were in our 20s and decided to play a full 90 minute game (usually we only played 10 or 15 minutes each way. It was Saints v United. He was a united fan and generally was a slightly better Subbuteo player than me. We were drawing 1-1 with 10 minutes to go when I scored a screamer into the top corner; a real cracker. He claimed that my player connected with this player before it hit the ball (a foul). All hell let lose. Big debate and it ended up with me packing my players say and stomping out as he refuse to allow the goal. We never fell out, and the next day all was normal. About 20 years later when my lad was getting into Subbuteo, my mate admitted to us that the goal was legit. B’stard
Hopefully, we needed a wide receiver to replace Diggs but I don't watch much college football so I couldn't say how good or otherwise our picks are. We also seemed to go really defence heavy... In our 15 picks, I think we picked 2 wide receivers, two or three o-line men and a late round QB, making the remaining 9 or 10 players defensive picks. Zimmer does love his defence, but I feel our offence could have used a bit more work.
Well, all the experts have been complimentary of the Vikings draft so it sounds promising. Apparently Jefferson who the Vikings got at pick 25 should have gone at least 10 picks earlier.
The whole of the 1985 Dutch Grand Prix. Don't remember seeing it live, on account of being a shade over a week old at the time. What I'd give for cars with 2020 safety and reliability, along with 1985 aero and handling characteristics. You have a three-car fight that actually catches up to the lead car, because being in proximity was not a fatal problem! Outbraking is a twitchy, gutsy affair! Just have that, but you don't have almost two-thirds of the field retire from mechanical faults and you don't kill a driver every second Sunday.
The experts are complimentary about 90% of teams straight after the draft. The vast majority of players picked in the first 3 rounds will all have been amazing in college, otherwise they would’nt have been selected, it is very hard to judge who will make it in the NFL as the level is a lot higher than college. I liked the Jefferson pick for the Vikings, and having 15 picks gets you a lot of lottery tickets that some of them will turn out good. Can’t see them being too competitive this year but if they get 7/8 good players from this draft haul they could be good in a year or 2. Also got 12 picks for next years draft already with Rick trading around like he normally does
I have decided to organise a six a side football tournament for amateur sides for the very day the PL restarts the end of this season. I am hoping we can raise at least 16 teams and that I can get some people to volunteer as match officials. I have contacted the St John's Ambulance people for medical support. I will shortly ask the police to provide security. All games will be played at the neutral Riverside Park. I have a team formed known as "I'm only in it for the money". If you wish to enter let me know. The people want football back and this will be a great way to give it to them. If you think I am being irresponsible please let me know but I'll give you my reply now: "**** you".
