Todays average celebrity couldn't possibly be expected to speak for 30 minutes with just the occasional prompting from Parky, other than comedians and scientists no one really has anything interesting to say anymore.

You can sort of tell this by watching QI. Some of the regular panellists - David Mitchell, Rich Hall, Dara O'Brien, Bill Bailey, Phill Jupitus - all bounce off one another, but some of the others seem be be immune to the concept of a conversation
I think it’s also just because people are unwilling to stick their heads above the parapet. A long conversation increases the chance of an interviewee saying something they shouldn’t if they’re asked about a sensitive topic, which often they are. Back in the days before social media and the accompanying internet firestorms that so often greet someone in the public eye who says something even mildly controversial, you’d get away with it (and also I think people cared less, frankly), but now you’re ****ed if something gathers enough momentum. These people make money off their personal brands and it’s generally not worth their time to put themselves through a free form, long form interview where they could get blindsided and say something that comes back to bite them. Far easier to do 10 mins and namecheck their latest book/album/Instagram endorsement.

1972 wasn't it they beat us 3-1 and the return was goalless? I did watch it, but I was 7 i remember his goal the only goal in the game that I do recall. Can't even recall who scored ours. I recall their side from 1974 much better was Netzer injured for that?

Francis Lee scored our goal, for what it was worth. We were well beaten. Netzer left BMG for Madrid in '73 and that wasn't well received in Germany. I think that the move affected his form and the Germans weren't short of decent players, so his international career tailed off dramatically. Shame, as he was some player.
