From Luther: I have just seen what Hornet Lee Bowen has said and done to show his understanding and support in the fight against racism. I was so moved by the fact he has adopted my image to make his point as a white man... to show that colour should not matter and we are all one, all part of the human race. Something he just naturally accepted through having seen my playing career. So the thought struck me, what if every Hornet was to become Luther Blissett? There has always been a strange worldwide campaign using my name, people even change to it by deed poll. Perhaps this cult idea could work really positively if fans everywhere become Luther Blissett in the name of equality. And adopt my profile picture to show that we are all the same. By sharing with family and friends in this way, hopefully it is a start point for each of us to play a part in educating others to accept everyone as individuals. To send out and grow the message #notoracism by creating understanding and acceptance - starting with ourselves to reach outwards . Graham Taylor always said "I am going to treat you all the same. But different - only because you all have individual character traits". Yes. It is ALL about as the great Martin Luther King said ..."not the colour of your skin. But the content of your character"... I'm Luther Blissett #Heroescomeinallcolours #Notoracism Perhaps that will help a little bit to the odd few who dont understand what is going on in the US and the actions of the red headed male...
Boris looking shambolic today. My wife, not political said he looked haunted on the briefing.... ..and his behaviour in parliament was shocking.....
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged the public not to move gatherings indoors if it rains, as parts of the UK brace themselves for wetter weather. please log in to view this image
The latest figures showed more than 1,800 a day had tested positive for the virus, but Sir Patrick said official estimates suggested the true figure was significantly higher. I just cannot understand why with such numbers we are thinking that other countries are in a worse situation and should be banned from entering the UK. Yes it might stop the odd individual from passing the virus on, but it needs to be broadcast far and wide that you don't go to the UK unless you want to take a risk with your health.
Secretary of state Alok Sharma began feeling unwell when in the chamber delivering the second reading of the corporate governance and insolvency bill. In line with guidance he has been tested for coronavirus and is returning home to self-isolate. Westminster is a small cramped office in many places, just the sort of place you might avoid if there were a dose of flu or galloping trots doing the rounds. Isn't it time for a modern purpose built assembly to built away from London, and the Palace of Westminster to be turned into some form of historical theme park?
The Lords are currently in the process of adopting all electronic voting. Despite what is said, they often have a far higher standard of debate, and are far more forward looking than the Commons. With a large number of crossbenchers, a person such as Cummings cannot exert the same influence as he does in the Commons, despite the fact that he is not elected anymore than one of his Lordships.
"Boris sometimes seems affronted when criticised for what amounts to a gross failure of responsibility (and surprised at the same time that he was not appointed Captain of the School for next half): I think he honestly believes that it is churlish of us not to regard him as an exception, one who should be free of the network of obligation which binds everyone else.” Martin Hammond who was Johnson's housemaster at Eton wrote this to Stanley Johnson. Today in PMQs Johnson showed up these qualities when he suggested that he was above having to answer questions from Keir Starmer. It really was an abject performance, certainly not one worthy from someone who is supposed to be the leader of the country.
Coronavirus deaths yesterday: UK: 359 EU 27: 314 Boris Johnson is “very proud” of his response to the Coronavirus crisis. He has said that the UK would be world leading. Is that what he meant?
He obviously hadn't been briefed about this - or maybe the brief wasn't brief enough for him to read and understand... https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...invalid-uk-coronavirus-tests-had-to-be-redone
Now he's asking the EU workers to come back and help ahead of Brexit. What a complete and utter hypocritical numpty - how can he not be aware what a fool this makes him look like? https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/to...u-workers-to-return-ahead-of-brexit-1-6684193
Nothing wrong with informing EU workers there is work here if not in their own countries. Short term contracts with no right to automatically live here, quite usual in many countries. The same scheme as Moroccans doing seasoning work in the fields of Spain.
I'm sure the poverty in Southern Europe will encourage many to seek temporary employment in the UK, they have little choice.
Rather unlikely at the moment. There is plenty of work for them within the EU as the lockdowns are slowly coming off here. Reports say there is a lot of catching up to do. Judging by reports today of people losing their jobs in the UK there should be plenty of labour over there.
Before the pandemic the unemployment rate of those under 25 in Spain and Italy was just over 30%, it is more like 60% now. They have little option but to follow the work while they can.
I don't really understand why you suddenly want all these foreigners to come to the UK when you now have plenty of unemployed there, and you have been agitating to keep them out. Perhaps some of the 3M from Hong Kong could go over early to help out.
Mass uncontrolled immigration into the UK to solve the EU's unemployment woes is quite different from using targeted labour for specific uses on a limited time basis. This is usual practice throughout the world, even within the EU.
