Maaasive game in the race for the Playoffs next Saturday - 3 points (following our great win against the Leeds) would be a big marker to laydown against the team we are level with on goal difference! Unfortuently, Deepdale is a place we have never played well at - will the lack of a crowd work in our favour here? @Oldsparkey usually starts well after a break and this time its no exception - a big CS moves him to within 2 points of the Div II summit. is this the year???
Hey Sheepy - I could have said I've been trying to lose because I can't stand the pressure of the playoffs!....... However, getting a CS against Leeds has put me with a shout of the autos which mean I will avoid the dreaded playoffs anyway. I might even go for this.........
As if you haven't all along, Sparkey!!! This is a sterile draw, lightened up by two goals. Ralls first for us via a penalty and one of hem to equalise just after the break. Two little lights in this darkness we call a match.
Positively scorchio at the moment, apparently back to cool on Saturday look forward to looking at my seat via the medium of the Cathode Ray at the unearthly time of 12.30, Only dfficulty I can see is trying to keep awake during my OAP afternoon siesta. Match thread on my site fairly shortly
Make sure you switch on early enough to let the valves warm up! Fond memories of Deepdale. From memory we snatched a 2-2 during a mid-week match in hammering rain on your extraordinarily bouncy plastic pitch... think it must have been around 1988 or 89?? Went up in fine health, came back with a rotten cold. Locals were friendly enough in the pub down the road though.
Delaying my prediction until tomorrow. Need to get it right. I have Sparky too close behind my tail for liking now... Not to mention Frankfurter being the meat in our sandwich!
The pitch played on it a few times lost gallons of blood if you ever got flattened on it, however without a shadow of doubt can say I have scored twice on a Football League ground, one was a toe poke and the other a header which went in off my shoulder
Only because of the closed doors situation, I'm going for 2-0 to the Bluebirds with Glatzel to score. Its going to be surreal to see (or not) a ground like Deepdale empty for a football match. Great tradition, great ground, great club.
