It's a tricky one to be honest (as it was this year)

Basically it would have to be someone

    - playing outside the premiership OR at a considerably lower down PL team like Wigan (no offense to them)
    - under 25
    - most likely not in european football (edit: meaning cl or europa)
    - low wages (which = a team in a worse league or not very big club)

To be honest, I think next season's equivalent's of someone like Gameiro or Papiss Cisee (maybe even Cisse next season!) would be good, players who have performed well in fairly strong leagues but don't play for any of the big clubs

edit: wouldn't want a striker who wants bigger wages because I don't want to ruin the dressing room morale and all that, I'd rather have a modest player who scored less goals if I'm really honest

I'm going to keep hoping for Iker Muniain!

  2. Was thinking about that actually. I would hope that our players weren't the type that would demand higher wages if the wage cap was risen, but i agree it aint worth the risk.

I think a good idea though, would be to offer 50k a week with a 10k per goal bonus or something?

And for defenders, 50k a week with a 10k clean sheet bonus.

Bonuses are the way to do it. If Ba plays I think he gets more than 50k p/w, but when he doesnt play basic wage is only 30k p/w.

I think the trouble is most well known strikers will wont more than 50k so the risk you take is trying to find one cheaper with potential. You can get a good enough striker for 50k but I don't think you'll get better quality than you already have to be honest.

Was it you who has Ba in your fantasy football side (know it was one of the Liverpool fans)? Hope you had him in on Saturday! <cheers>

keep bumping on about welliton i know he's in the last year of his contract and was available in the summer for 7.5m (think he wants to see out his contract) he's not getting many starts but still scoring the only problem i can see with him is wages and visa but i think he's got Russian citizenship now as there was talk of him playing for Russia.would love it if we signed him but somehow i doubt we will.

Salomon Kalou anyone. He is in his last year of his contract. 7th choice forward at Chelsea. Only 26, height 6"1" and pacy which suits us. Can play up top or the wings. Scored 10 league goals last season as a impact player most times.

I don't think anyone will agree with me, but if Burnley get promoted any time soon, I think Charlie Austin will do well in the Premiership.

I dont think it would change much, we can attract the caliber of striker we need now. Its just a case of stumping up the money... Theres not many better than Papiss Cisse...

Weren't we heavily linked with him as couple of years ago? I've never seen him for burnley but remember Swindon (I think) fans saying he was going to be the dogs bollock's.

I like the look of that Cisse as well.

I have a feeling we will be back in for Erdinc

Carr ****ing loves him and he's not getting much game time at PSG. A move to us could be very attractive to him in January. He will be looking at the Prem thinking he could be involved in this, no doubt.
