You're right about Wallace. Having watched that 90 minutes Wallace looks past it. However, if you seriously believe that Manning is the answer at left back you're watching the wrong sport mate.
Dykes was too isolated often 30 yards from a team mate.....didn't really matter 1st half due to the high press......but 2nd half no press and unable to hold the ball pinged at him to bring the midfield into play..... Awful 2nd half on back foot straight from restart..... Wallace looks an old man, he was horribly exposed down our left.....time to give hamalanien a go if manning out of favour...
The first 40 minutes proved we can play with a purpose. Unfortunately, we can't defend set pieces. Do we actually have a defensive coach, if not, I suggest getting Clint Hill or Richard Dunne in to teach the basics of defending.
My point is. .....overall Manning is much better than Wallace. That team tonight totally lacked creativity. Manning would have made a far more positive contribution. If Manning is as bad as you say, why is there interest in him from the Premier League?
Surely it would be better to play Chair in behind Dykes? He's totally ineffective out wide. He needs to be in between the lines and linking the play imo.
We did but we never looked like scoring or really creating up until the penalty decision. You look to the bench and cant see any real changes that would make any difference. Totally agree about cameron. So very disappointing tonight. Just goes to show that possession doesnt get you points. Being ****ing positive with your play does and that team deservedly won the game.
Reading through this I keep seeing posts how bad or incapable our defending is, which is pretty much the same story as last season. Anyway, did anyone watch the interview with Clint Hill last season that someone posted on here, I think Oslo? Clint stated that while he enjoyed MW as a manager he did NO defensive training, he wasn't even interested at communicating with defenders while he was at Rangers and laughed it off as a joke! Looks like nothing has changed - WE NEED A REAL DEFENSIVE COACH at QPR because it won't change.
Why oh why dont we play that young Finland international at left back. He can get in the Finland team so surely he must be better than Wallace.
Not sure mate. Perhaps as a wing back? I don't say Manning is a bad player, I like him going forward, I just don't think he can defend. However, we might as well play him if Wallace is always as poor as that.
Sky Arts with Guy Garvey going back to 1979 was good. Police, Joy Division, PIL, Clash, and rare footage of Kate Bush. PLus Teardrop Explodes and Echo.....I was checking in on the score.....I should have put us down for a defeat...it worked last week. Second game of the season. No Fans. Maybe if we had fans it would have helped. Keep the faith.....
Agree with you on Cameron. The clubs showing interest in Manning must disagree with you on his abilities.
I get that Amos after an apparently promising game against Forest (didn’t see it) offers something when we don’t have the ball in the ‘ten’ role but he’s dreadful with the ball. Feel we’d look a lot more effective with Chair there and Thomas/Smyth/Manning if alive on the left. Ball for Cameron should just be a given. Doesn’t solve the Wallace issue though.
But in those 44 minutes we hardly threatened, got a fortunate penalty when the ball was running away and made so many sideways and backwards passes when there were opportunities to get at their defence. Having 60-70% possession and doing nothing with it is pointless and boring. We also gave the ball away a lot but fortunately Coventry were as piss poor in the first half as we were in the second...
That sums it up, Coventry were poor in the 1st half with about %30 possession, yet still went in at 1-1.
Do you know something Col, I'm really starting to think that. I said it to my lad at halftime. He either hasnt got the balls/brains to change things.
Hes young enough to be coached but if Warbs doesnt bother with the defensive side then theres no point.
Sky making a huge thing about taking the knee. BLM are a questionable organisation imo so I have no problem with it. Fair play to Warburton for defending our work in the community etc.
I cant recall being this pissed off over a performance in ages (I'm sure I will have been). Literally getting the ball in the final 3rd and turning back, over and over again. Great we are keeping the ball but also letting Coventry get back in shape and mark up. Surely that wasnt the instructions! I would love to see 2 up front but obviously we only have one striker worth playing.
