I'd imagine that he'll be going somewhere on loan in the next two weeks. He can hardly afford a second season of barely featuring (and given the signings Spurs have made this summer, I really don't see him getting a look - Jose didn't even seem to rate him last year). I'd be quite happy to see it be to us. But not at the expense of a decent CM. (Although with two loan spots available, we could get both.)
As for Barkley and RLC, I've seen them both linked to Villa as well. And I'd imagine that Villa would be ahead of us in the queue where Chelsea are concerned. Firstly, because their owner would probably be willing to cover a higher percentage of their wage than us. Secondly, because of Terry. However, Villa can't have them both. So even if they do get one, there could still be the other. (Although I'm not sure if Frank would want to let both go.)
If villa could take Barkley then... he can then battle Grealish for most overrated midfielder in the PL
Read the headline and was relieved that Saints are not in for McTominay - presumably because they think he is crap.... But apparently, he is a player Hasenhuttl rates highly! Surely not, McTominay is 100% a championship/league 1 player but gets rated because he is from united academy. Just know he will end up another Macheda/Gibson etc.
Couldn't disagree more, he looks a very solid PL player to me! Definitely would be a good replacement for PEH. But united really rate him I think But then I also rate grealish very highly so I could be wrong
How is getting 2 players in on loan an excellent transfer window. We ****ed it up yet again for about the 4th season running.
I take your point, but I’m looking for ways to stay up, and bridge the time between now and Gao pissing off. Let’s see if there’s options to buy at the end of the deal too, Ings/Bertrand style.
Lots of clubs have used the loan market very well and there's no shame in it, you have to understand that the club is strapped for cash with a crippling wage bill and Covid. Getting quality in on the cheap is fine by me and if it works out with a new owner then maybe we might buy them if successful in the future. Same point as Laces made
l think it may be sensible financially to loan a couple of players. It may be better to make large financial commitments once we know when fans can return to stadiums and that revenues are more secure.
We have to survive this year and that’s it. Another year of the contracts running down and can hopefully shift a couple more next summer, freeing up some money
If Ralph had said he was happy with the squad as it is, I would be worried. Glad to see he wants some more signings in. And I disagree with the statement that RLC and Sessegnon on loan would be a bad summer. I would much rather these two decent players on loan than an unknown from overseas on a permanent (see Boufal). It also makes much more sense during the pandemic to get loans in given our financial situation and owner wanting to sell.
Interesting, I think McTominey would be almost perfect PEH replacement, I’ve been impressed whenever I’ve seen him But I suspect he’d have no interest in coming her RLC and Seesgnon would be signings id be very pleased with
