After the week we have just had, I am just left with two teams to dislike. Select from: Real Madrid Barcelona Having said that, I hope the emerging talent of Fati continúes, and perhaps oñe day he can be as good as Iniesta. Spain desperately needs more Spanish born black players at all levels playing and being chosen for the national team.
Will keep the quotes out of the Diallo thread but given how it relates to this deal, some context on the collapse of the Sangare deal from Ralph here: https://www.not606.com/threads/summer-2020-transfer-rumours.384082/page-181#post-14179953
Or Mane, Van Dijk, Schneiderlin etc.... More likely somewhere in the middle. But Mane and Morgan were complete unknowns when they arrived at Saints. Some transfers come off and some don't. Diallo is only 21 and Everton and Leicester were after him as well so he can't be crap.
I'm just relieved we're signing anyone tbh, the rest is a bonus Plenty of song options with both his names Dale a tu cuerpo alegria Ibrahima Que tu cuerpo es pa' darle alegria y cosa buena Dale a tu cuerpo alegria, Ibrahima Hey Ibrahima Diallo, Oh, O Diallo O, O, O, O
Boufal came highly rated, some at Lille thought he was as talented as Hazard. Hoedt wasn't particularly rated while at Lazio...and Carrillo had people (including many inside Saints) sratching their heads.
An inexperienced 21 year old to solve and replace our experienced full international with 50+ PL appearances. Deep joy!
I wonder how much EPL experience Pierre-Emile had prior to joining us. He was barely even a fringe player at Bayern, and now were buying some other player, he was suddenly Lothar Matteus
Were you expecting the club to suddenly find that kind of cash down the back of the sofa? I don’t understand this perspective. We’ve signed a good player, playing first team football and who regular observers have identified as a real talent. He may burn out early and not reach those high levels but this is what we have to try. And he may well be second choice but he still has what Ralph wants in his embryonic Naby Keitaness. I’d love to know the alternative to this. A player with comparable levels of experience to PEH who is within our fee and salary budgets. If we’re even talking about a player from the PL we’d be starting at double this fee. I’ve been one of the biggest PEH defenders on here but even I’m optimistic about this one. PEH was a very good player. But we were always going to replace him with a younger, cheaper and less well known player.
Young, will be new to UK, certainly new to a much tougher league. Good to see all the positivity over a signing and hopefully he will be as good as some on here are aspiring him to be, but am not sure if he is an immediate starter - one to brought through slowly - is it only me who thinks this?
How many clubs sign PL older, experienced players that fail? Loads. We take the poss out of them.. I do believe it is simply a personal disposition; people either look forward to a change or they dread a change Take Pierre - slaughtered for months and months on this board alone yet now he is a seasoned PL player to some that we’re not replacing. Not to mention he didn’t play in our best period. Take Gao - fans moan and moan that he is a crook, bad owner, no investment and doesn’t give a ****. Potential new owner and all of a sudden, it’s better the devil you know * . * courtesy of K Minogue
That is literally our business model and also only option. It is clubs like Spurs who can afford to pick up PL proven players - we simply cant. Which is why we buy the likes of Hojbjerg, Mane, VVD, Wanyama, Tadic, Pelle, Djenepo, etc. They are far cheaper and a lot of the time just as good. This strategy worked extremely well for us in the past and hopefully with Ralph's influence on signings we are back on track and avoiding the likes of Hoedt, Lemina, Carrillo etc.
He’ll be third choice for the two DM roles straight away and up until the 5th minute of the Burnley game I reckon Ralph would have been tempted to field 10 players and send Romeu home. He sounds encouraging, he looks slight in build, but those French journalists seem to think he can hold his own. Looks high energy and tenacious from YouTube clips. If he brings the right attitude then he has a chance. His quickness is something we’re definitely lacking in that area of the pitch(probably all areas)
