So I've received my testing kit, delivered just now by Amazon. I have to take the test no more than an hour before the collection time at my nearest Royal Mail priority post box and send it off. After the laboratory receives the test, I'll get an email within 2 to 4 days telling me the result.

Remember to get that swab right up your nose, just about touching the frontal lobe of your brain. Enjoy!

Yeah thanks, it's also got to scrape my tonsils. I thought the tests were supposed to be less invasive now!

It's not going to be much fun for my missus, who's going to have to do it for me. I'm quite a baby with these things.

Make sure you get your tonsils and not your Uvula. You’d be surprised how many don’t know the difference ;)

I did the same on my 11 year old Strolls, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be (taking the sample)

It’s almost as if it’s planned that way, but that would lead one away from incompetence and towards malevolence, which cannot be true.

I went out for dinner with my fam and my old man last night, then 10 o’clock came and everyone had to go. It was the most absurd experience I’d had in some time. Everyone ended up chatting, staff and diners and I think 100% of people thought the situation was laughable, except, of course the family who own the restaurant, who are losing out on a fair whack of trade. So I addressed the crowd, asked how far people are prepared to be pushed around before they stand up for themselves. Didn’t get much response, so I suppose the vast majority will simply abide by pointless, arbitrary bullshit like 6 people and 10pm, even though they know it’s bullshit.

Over here, there is talk of us going back into full lock down within the next day or two. The National Public Health Emergency Team have recommended to the government that we move back into level 5 restrictions which is what we were in back in March/April/May.. the whole country was in level two up to now except Dublin and Donegal which were in level 3. The only difference between the Spring and now is that schools and colleges would remain opened now. This would mean all bars and restaurants closed except for take away or delivery. No visits allowed to your house. Only allowed to leave your house for exercise of up to 5km. All sport would also be stopped. Not great news.

The government will consider the recommendation in the next day or two and decide how we proceed. With cases spiking all over the country, they were left with no alternative. The second wave is well and truly here.

I asked a couple of weeks ago on here, and I think only Stroller replied (which is fine, I’m used to being ignored), but of those of you who largely agree with these never before seen measures of hiding from a real world problem, regardless of other consequences, are you at all, and if so to what degree, concerned about these new powers that government has afforded itself, especially given the absolute lack of parliamentary debate and involvement.

I think I mentioned something similar on the politics thread mate. It's becoming like a dictatorship. But hey, you get what you vote for!....or not.

Could you have simply begun the meal an hour earlier?

Not particularly concerned, although the lack of parliamentary debate is slightly worrying.
I reckon these new measures will disappear when the virus does.

Apparently not. If the curfew is 10 pm you cannot leave until then - you are forced to do so then and not a minute before . So that you can walk down the stairs into the station without looking at any one else because you just have to read and send a text message. A bit less bleating about interference with my rights and a bit more focus about taking responsibility for one's own actions wouldn't go amiss.
