The Tigers suffered their first defeat of the season after losing 3-1 to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Goals from Yassine En-Neyah, Ateef Konate and Ethan Dekel-Daks condemned the Tigers to defeat, despite Josh Hinds scoring a consolation. Richard Naylor and Andy Dawson made nine changes to the starting eleven that defeated Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at the KCOM Stadium last time out. George Long, Lewie Coyle, Brandon Fleming, Dan Batty, Sean McLoughlin, Jacob Greaves, Callum Jones, Billy Chadwick and Thomas Mayer were all replaced as only James Berry and Max Sheaf retained their position in the team. The hosts created a few opportunities early on as En-Neyah tested Harvey Cartwright from point-blank range. Konate was next to take aim, firing his shot over the bar, before Jordan Wright was sharp off his line to stop Berry connecting with Jordan Hickey’s pass. Cartwright was tested again by En-Neyah as the goalkeeper held his shot, before Matty Jacob produced a good block to deny Joe Lolley. Will Swan then headed wide from En-Neyah’s cross, before Virgil Gomis curled his first-timed effort over the bar. McCauley Snelgrove was unlucky as he saw his header blocked by Riley Harbottle, before Forest took the lead. Gomis picked out the run of En-Neyah at the back post and he headed his effort past a stranded Cartwright. The hosts looked for a second as Harry Wood blocked Lolley’s effort, before Cartwright saved well with his feet to deny En-Neyah. Ahmed Salam did have a chance for the Tigers before half-time, but his volley was blocked by Rezart Rama. In the second-half, it took Forest just three minutes to score their second. After Cartwright initially saved Lolley’s effort, Konate, from the edge of the penalty area, curled his shot into the top corner to double Forest’s lead. It could have been three moments later as Cartwright denied Gomis, before Swan fired wide after racing through on goal. Forest scored their third just past the hour mark as Dekel-Daks created space for himself in the penalty area, before placing his shot into the bottom corner. The Tigers did pull one back through Hinds as he latched onto Jordan Wright’s loose clearance and the winger fired his low shot into the corner to reduce the deficit. Despite the Tigers pushing forward, it was Forest who created the majority of chances in the last quarter of an hour, as Cartwright saved from Alex Gibson-Hammond and Swan, before the latter saw his effort blocked by Danny Lupano. Cartwright was called into action one more time late on as he saved from Konate as the Tigers suffered their first defeat in the U23 Professional Development League. Meanwhile, prospect Harry Wood has signed a new one-year extension with Hull City. The midfielder has progressed through the Academy since originally joining the Tigers at U16 level, and will join up with Andy Dawson and Richard Naylor’s U23s’ side for the remainder of the 2020/21 season. Hull City are also delighted to announce that forward Henri Kumwenda has signed a one-year deal, with the Club holding the option of a further year. The boys going to be massive I tell ya Tho he probably doesn’t know who Hitler is..... Carew: It Showed Great Character To Come Back 1 Hour ago please log in to view this image 50 views Hull City U18 Harvey Carew says the team showed great character to come from behind to defeat Millwall 4-1 at Bishop Burton College. The striker netted a brace for himself and further goals from Oliver Green and Josh Ward secured all three points for the Tigers in the Under 18 Professional Development League. “I think it was a throughly deserved three points,” said Carew. “It showed great character to come back from one goal down. No one’s head dropped when Millwall scored and we all carried on and kept pushing forward up the pitch, so it wasn’t as if we dropped back; we continued to carry on pushing forward and attacking the goal. “At half-time, John (Anderson) and Matt (Hare) told us to keep being positive and not let our heads drop, because even though Millwall were a good side, we knew we could still win the game and get out from under their pressure and thankfully we did that and claimed the three points.” Speaking on his brace, Carew added: “I’m glad to be on the scoresheet. “I’ve been starting centrally for a couple of weeks now and I have wanted to be a centre forward, so I’m currently working on that in training, by working on my hold-up play and finishing and I showed it off today. “It’s my first two goals of the season and they’ll hopefully be more to come.”
