Good news for both. And spot on about getting diagnosed early. Sadly it’s this bit of the system which has been most in crisis since March. And, of course, if you get better, the service is fantastic. But in fact we are behind all major western countries except Ireland in five year survival for all the most common cancers. Not by miles in most cases, but still bottom. We invested loads in cancer services 1999- 2008, as we did in the NHS as a whole, and were catching up rapidly. Did they say how long to get you a result for your test? And have the antibiotics worked?
They say they'll get the bowel cancer test result back to me in two weeks. I should emphasise that this is a routine screening - I have no reason to suspect that I actually have it. I'm not sure the antibiotics have worked. The cough's a bit better, but I still get some shortness of breath and the fatigue is no better at all. I'm going to call the GP again in the morning, but I'm still planning to go ahead with the Inverness trip on Friday. Don't tell Stainesy.
Hate to say this, but long covid could be a possibility. Get it checked out properly, my GP mate, in one of our on the street dog walking discussions, says he uses the phone/video consultations as triage to make sure he really does see people who need seeing. If antibiotics aren’t working, most likely it’s related to some virus or other. Take care.
I really hope it's something relatively minor Stoller and you enjoy your trip - I wouldn't wish long Covid on anyone if my wifes' experience is anything to go by
Good to hear your ok, mate. I've had several check ups down there and they removed some pulps. I urge anyone and everyone 40 and over to have bowel cancer check every couple of years. Its not as invasive as we may think and the peace of mind of having it done, is second to none. On a side note, l'm thinking of editing my business card, like so............... Builder / Proctologist................... cause l too am dealing with arsesoles everyday!
Not what he’s saying. He’s saying that of all positives, there are more false than genuinely positive.
I looked at some of his stuff last month, on his initial appearance on the Julia Hartley Brewer show. His maths was way out then, but surprisingly the delightful Julia didn’t pick it up. My understanding is that he has misinterpreted pillar 2 testing as being random and general population, which it isn’t. But either way, we have always known that testing numbers and results are the weakest of the metrics, until you have a clean, rapid test for the whole population. But hospitalisations and deaths are pretty robust metrics, even if he is 100% correct on false positives. The excess deaths number is going up again.
He’s working on the basis that many symptomless people are getting tested believing they have come into contact with a positive, concluding then that quoted case numbers, upon which policies are structured, are hugely misleading. The 0.9/1.0 or whatever % false positive rate backs up that argument, doesn’t it? Deaths will begin to rise now, won’t they, given the time of year and the cold weather ahead? Covid/flu/pneumonia will all rise. Surely knowing this was a strong reason to not isolate people and restrict healthy outdoor living during the warm months?
Ed Conway @EdConwaySky Replying to @EdConwaySky Meet Amanda & Adrian. Adrian has stage 4 bowel cancer. He responded well to chemo - so well that his docs scheduled a life-saving operation to remove a large part of his liver. It was due in April. Then came lockdown, then the op was cancelled. Adrian’s cancer is now terminal please log in to view this image 5
He has therefore made an assumption about pillar 2 testing which is, as far as I can tell, not an evidence based assumption. He seems like a proper scientist, though his position in Pfizer was nothing like as grand as it sounds. He says things which appeal to a certain demographic, and that sets my hackles up, brings out my bias against anything David Icke likes. So I probably shouldn’t comment any more. Just keep track of excess deaths, which are 53,000 above the rolling average for the last 5 years. Dropped a bit over the summer, now taking off again. Nothing to do with flu and ‘winter illnesses’ that’s factored in to the average. Best we can hope for is that the most vulnerable have already been taken.
I read your posts and all it odes is convince me that some folk will never accept any opinion or evidence which does not match their own view point.
I don’t have a viewpoint based on my own inner feelings, I have a viewpoint based on reasoned research. I’m completely open to counter arguments, I just haven’t yet heard many. What am I missing about the significant role the false positive situation is playing in all this?
It’s totally true in a completely false way. When he says things without any hard evidence it’s clearly been proven in an indefinite definite way. Of course UK, Anglo Germanic software is a non-European EC product that clearly is an unclear ineffectual effective process. Does that clear it up for you? It’s obvious. I am considering applying to be a member of parliament at the next election.
