I remember asking on a couple of occasions whether if someone were to offer 12-15m for Costa, would we take it?

    Evening chaps.

Please don't get carried away with this match, or Pablo's performance.

Set aside the rose-tinted glasses & realise that the barcodes were absolutely knackered in the last 15 mins.

    * That's why we scored 3 in 15.
    * That's why Pablo looked so good.
    * That's why it felt like being back in the Championship.

And it helped that the barcodes aren't a particularly good team in any department. They only looked good in attacking set pieces because it was us they were playing! <yikes><wah>

Rafinha is class, Costa is always going to look a poor option now.

Have to agree, on social media I’m reading loads of hype about Pablo providing two assists. Let’s look at the first one, Raphinha did the hard work both skill wise and right decision with quick thinking, he passed to Pablo who had acres of space and all he had to do was pass it 10 yards to three waiting players, it was 5 v 2 he didn’t even have to pick one out.

Second goal Pablo passed the ball out from our own box to Harrison 999/1000 that pass wouldn’t have lead to an assist, Harrison took it from our own half and dribbled it 40-50 yards before hitting a stunning goal, I don’t see how that’s classed as an assist and it’s a grey area. An assist depends on the quality of the attacker. Had Alioski skied it or Harrison’s shot hit the bar Pablo wouldn’t have been noticed for anything exceptional, likewise if Raphinha had went left instead of right.

It was a decent pass by Pablo and he’ll fortunately have two assists to his name. Good on him but for those calling for him to start or using those “assists” to justify his inclusion I can’t agree.

I agree with Jock on them being tired, but I thought they ran out of steam by 35mins and were lucky we didnt score more in the first half. We ran them ragged second half and died with 15mins left to play

Pablo, defo not a starter, but as an opposition defender with heavy legs you would not want to see him come on in the last 20.
He still has the vision and class to unlock defences.

Yep este... Think it’s clear bielsa knows where Pablo adds value. His strategy late last year was Roberts to run around for a half and then play Pablo in the second. It was that way round for a reason.

Broken/open game and/or lock picker of tired defences... great option to have.

I really do not understand what Bielsa sees in Roberts. I’d much rather see one of the u23s come on in that situation for a bit of experience. Roberts has had maybe two decent games ever for us, he isn’t improving

When Roberts first came into the team, he showed some real touches of class. Two years ago now, and obviously he’s suffered with injuries but it’s fair to say he’s not improved as hoped. When he comes on it’s generally been an underwhelming change.

I have to chime in - in agreement - over Roberts.

Mr Optimist here likes to give every player a chance, but I couldn't argue with anyone if they called him a wage thief. I think we all had high hopes for him, but it just didn't work - well, so far. TBF, if Bielsa hadn't come along, it all might have been a bit different, but I think it's clear for all to see that he doesn't fit in, in the same way that Douglas didn't. No particular criticism of their playing capabilities, as I'm sure both will/would do ok elsewhere. They were simply guilty of being in the wrong place at the wrong time with wrong manager.

Any other manager might have moved him on in the summer, but Bielsa being the man he is, God knows what will happen with him. Even Bielsa must reach the point where his head is in his hands watching him. Then again, he might be doing exactly what he's told, for all we know, as he keeps getting game time.

Having said all that, knowing Bielsa, anything could happen. He might even be Kiko's replacement! :D

Klich and Phillips both on 4 yellows... If they both get another in the same game we’ll be without both at the same time. Six more games before the reset as well..

Loving the table as Brighton are 2 wins behind us and Burnley are 2 wins and a draw. Fulham are 2 wins and 2 draws behind, WBA are 3 wins and a draw behind and the Blunts are 5 wins and a draw behind. Relegation is 3 from this group I guess so hoping the team are picking up confidence now

For me, it's the goal difference that gives a big clue. The bottom 4 are already into negative double figures, so hopefully backs up Doc's assertion.

Sams been offered £2m to keep WBA up and he’ll get a 12 month contract. So basically he can afford to think bollocks to the future and what happens next year, as long as I get my £2m that’s fine. Zero planning for the future from WBA just play ugly football and grind out a point here and there, don’t worry about developing anyone for anything further forward than 12 months.

To grind out results he is going to have to do something about their attack, their defence or both. -16 goal difference at the moment, only 10 goals scored and 26 conceded. He will need to do some buying in January.
