Wind up or not, he's right about the Pony Track (tourist route) being just a dull slog. If you aren't into rock climbing, the height is Ben Nevis's only attraction.

The Norfolk coastal town of Great Yarmouth has been revealed as the best destination for an UK autumn or winter coastal staycation.
Its clean beaches, low average rainfall and generous number of sunshine hours earned it the top spot in a new coastal escapes list from UK holiday home outfit Park Holidays.

Well that's one in the nuts for Cromer,Hunstanton,Wells,Southwold. etc.
Proves that value for money is what most people want.
    Well done Yarmouth<cheers>

I was there last Friday en route to an appointment at the James Paget in Gorleston.
Beaches aside, and I'm not a beach person at any time, what a complete and utter ****hole!!
Dirty, chaotic rroad network, empty units everywhere, pond life on the grubby streets, etc.
At least the four examples you cited by way of comparison are clean and have some points of interest.
Best thing about my visit was the 6A bus back to Cromer <ok>
We'll agree to disagree on this one.

    I love Great Yarmouth haha

Every time we come back to Norfolk in the summer we go and have an extravagant day at the 2p arcades haha. My wife who is from Thailand originally really enjoys it.

One in the nuts? On the contrary, I'd imagine the inhabitants of Southwold etc. let out a huge, collective sigh of relief.

To be considered a less attractive resort than GY?
    I doubt it very much.

Must still have the novelty factor for her. I can't say that I have ever seen anything similar out here in Thailand

England's centrally contracted men's players have agreed to a 15% pay cut for the next 12 months.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) reached an agreement with Team England Player Partnership (TEPP) after the financial implications of Covid-19.

    Football take note?
    No chance.

I thought Pattya was Thailands answer to GY Thai. Same weather surely? (Mind you, I haven't been to Pattya for many years. though I was hoping to meet my adult daughters there next year). Not sure why I said adult, they are the only daughters I have. Eldest born here in Philippines is now a Squadron Leader in the RAF, and the younger is manager of a coffee shop in Lincoln. Very proud dad in case you haven't noticed.

A controversial plan to dig a £2.4bn road tunnel near Stonehenge has been approved by the Transport Secretary.
The A303, a popular route for motorists travelling to and from the south west, runs within a few hundred metres of the world heritage site.
The decision to build a two-mile (3.2km) tunnel out of sight of the monument goes against the recommendations of planning officials

Well £2.4bn to spend on a ****ing tunnel???
Glad to see Boris and his mates have got their priorities right, again<steam>

A shortlist of six contenders has been announced for the 2020 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

The nominees are cricketer Stuart Broad, jockey Hollie Doyle, boxer Tyson Fury, Formula 1's Lewis Hamilton, footballer Jordan Henderson and snooker star Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Not an F1 fan,but who else could it be?

I believe he sometimes changes as much as £2 into tuppences for her to enjoy herself. Having said that my Filipino wife of 38 years also got very excited at seaside resort amusement arcades when we lived in UK.

Totally random and largely irrelevant but I'm just back from Cromer hospital having had my second cataract removed. Left eye, NHS today, right eye, private <wah> 3 weeks and 2 days ago.
Fingers crossed, I shall wake up tomorrow, remove the eye-patch and feel ten years younger!
Whether I act ten years younger or not is, of course, a completely separate issue!!
