I don't have a lot of time for lorry drivers and, having travelled on the freight Euro tunnel, think they're best kept at a distance, but ffs, the way they're being treated is an absolute disgrace.

They're being asked to park on the motorway, shyte on the hard shoulder and go without basic human facilities.

If 1000's of NHS workers were stranded in the cars the government would be going for brownie points and sending the army out with hot meals/drinks and portaloos.

The transport minister was chirping on about how this has all been planned for months in preparation for the Brexit chaos ...

... seriously, how long does it take to plan to park lorries on the hard shoulder <doh>

The UK has a population of 67mil. Australia has 25mil.

The UK as an area of 97 thousand square miles. Australia has almost 3 MILLION square miles.

In Australia the problems, as I see it, have beem worst in the big cities, Melbourne and Sydney,

In Uk our least affected area has been the Highlands and Islands in Scotland.

At this stage my knowlege of Australia gets too thin to be sure but I'm guessing that the road system is rather more spread out than it is here in UK. I ASSUME that there are fewer roads.
For example, taking your inter County Travel idea ,does The UK have enough Police/Military to enforce this?

I like your idea, but I don't think it is feasable.

Even New Zealand, with their Brilliant PM, has needed Geography to be successful in controling this virus.

Here in The UK, the geography is against us, assisted it's true, by some bloody mindedness from idiots.
These may not be too much of a problem as the fools are something of a dying race.

I'm sorry but i don't agree with everything your saying.

Sure, we have a lesser population and a bigger area but the simple fact is that 99% of people have done as requested. The outbreaks have occurred as a result of people not isolating when instructed to. The latest cluster is down to an overseas airline crew ignoring quarantine guidlines.

The first major outbreak was an illegal BLM rally, the second a Mosque gathering. Both were against advice and regulations.

How have the stay at home orders been followed in the UK? I'm guessing not very well

This is becoming a national disgrace, I can't believe how thousands of lorry drivers are being deserted by our government ...

... there are no festivals and thousands of portaloos lying idle.

People are using the streets of Dover as toilets ffs.

    A broad statement,

Honestly, I believe my statistics about the relative population sizes and the comparisons about Square miles are both accurate examples, at least according to 'Google'.:emoticon-0100-smile

And not to agree that that those who refuse to follow the rules are a dying race seems a bit contradictory.:emoticon-0138-think

But we are just going to get by with me believing that isolated, geographicly, Island States like Australia and New Zealand, have an advantage not shared by continental countries that are also more densly populated, and your being convinced that this makes no difference,

But I am with you 100% about the idiots.

It really wouldn't surprise me if the Government awarded a multi million pound contract to one of their mates to do just that. No experience required, and don't even need to have the bog rolls either.

It's funny when people come on excusing the PM by introducing Corbyn, Macron, Sturgeon, etc, as a panacea, who next Donald Trump?

Mind you, perhaps that's not such a bad idea ...

... Johnson could always say a bigger boy told him to do it.
