My belief is when the brexit dust has settled and we are finding our feet again, maybe not in the next year or two, but maybe five, the French and the Germans will see we can stand alone. There’s only us and those two countries who put anything meaningful into the EU. They’ll want out.
I believe there will be some kind of European alliance, but not as it is now.

This lorry situation needs drastic action now before it descends into a national disgrace. The scenes from Dover, the motorway, Manston Airport, etc are shameful. The Port of Dover closes tomorrow so drivers will be left sitting at the side of the road on Christmas Day. That's bad enough but they don't even have the basic necessities the migrants at Calais have. Grant Shapps said procedures to deal with these situations had been planned over many months. How hard can it be to have ordered a few portaloos, field kitchens, and nissen huts. Army bases, all over the country, have warehouses crammed to the rafters with them. Thank heavens for the Salvation Army stepping in, but the volunteers are being pulled away from helping the destitute as they do every Christmas. We've let people down.

The Brexit negotiators are going through 100 different species of fish and discussing how many fish each country can catch in the coming years. I like the fish that has the batter on it so I hope that we don't lose out on those ones.

Pics in the Gruadian of sporting events this year show Bonko shaking hands with Farrell at Twickenham and packed stands at Cheltenham a couple of weeks before lockdown.... the start of the mishandling..

Haway lads, what foodstuffs do you think we export to France ...

    ... Greggs pasties?

Most of our exports are lumps of metal in various forms.

Our biggest 'food' export, by a mile, is whisky <laugh>

That means 100s of EU industries are going to go bankrupt if they have no materials, that’s really clever of them <laugh>

France has closed it's border, with the UK, just as dozens of other countries have done.

Even the US is threatening to stop travel there.

The UK has a calamitous viral increase and people are being told not to leave home.

Surely you don't think has all been done maliciously.

As far as I know everything is back to normal they just have to get the back log of lorries on the ferries I don’t think ports being closed for a few days is going to effect 99.9% of the British public unless you enjoy listening to scaremongers.<ok>

It's not back to normal yet Rooch, they are only allowing drivers with a negative test onto the ferries or through the tunnel. Goodness knows how long it's going to take to clear the backlog.
I'm with Smug, I couldn't give a monkeys about the politics but I feel heartily sorry for the drivers and hope it get's sorted soon.

Fair play to the port and ferry staff who've said they'll work over the holiday.

I know they've been paid extra but I choose to believe they actually care for all those people who just want to go home to their families.

Shocking way to treat the club.

    Club statement below:

As a club our first thoughts have to be with the players, staff and officials of both teams who will be forced to play a match in Tier 4 against wider Government regulations. As a ‘non-elite’ team, we do not accept the decision of both bodies given all the news coverage and medical expert advice provided.

We will not put families and lives at stake. It’s clear that no football match outside of the top level is COVID safe. We will not demand that our players travel in separate cars across the country to a tier 4 area. We have no clear clarification on the insurance procedures and coverage either.
