Am not worried by Stephens as much as l am Armstrong at the moment. He and Vesty have reversed their previous seasons form. With Moussa struggling at this level and Redmond being off for the better part of 2020, our link-play from midfield to attack is seriously misfiring. Our best supporting player in attack is Walker-Peters who looks such a threat. (Spurs must be wondering why they let him go, because of what l have seen of Spurs this season, l think he is performing better than their incumbent).
Agree, and mentioned the same to my nephew after Fulham game. I do remember someone trying out a certain Harry Kaine and he worked out ok.
Add Walcott to the list of strugglers as well. We are very much in need of Danny Ings. He brings so much directness to our play and without his focused attack mentality we default to playing up to the box, turn it around and start over from the back. The approach itself is not a problem but without Danny on fire we don’t create the chances. I would have expected one or two of Walcott, djenepo, redmond or Armstrong to be driving the play a bit more but it’s actually been Romeu more often than not.
So win tomorrow and we can climb 5 places, up to 4th. So let's ****ing win then, and prove that this new incarnation really is different to the Saints of old that we all know and love.
On the other Saints forum, they are slaughtering you and calling for you to be dropped and Mrs no.7 to be given a chance. I tried to defend you but they keep telling me she’s much more of a talent.
Agreed, Romeu has shown some excellant first-touch passing and link-play this season, am surprised how much he has been involved in build-ups. Great to see BTW.
Romeu has been a revelation. Previously felt him to be allergic to the ball unless it was going in for a tackle. Now I'm (mostly) comfortable with him receiving it anywhere. Its the wingers I have trouble with at the moment, which is a huge disappointment. Armstrong pre-covid was immense. Since. He's a shadow.
Its funny how inspirational Theo was against Man City but after the Fulham game where the whole team (ex KWP) was completely hopeless, that Theo appears to be written off by so many. Strange how so many look at the game
I did think yesterday that he is on a few people’s “playing badly” list yet he only really was below par in the last one. He did well against Arsenal and was unfortunately taken off exactly at the point the red card happened. His directness was just what was needed against 10 men, but nobody to blame for that.
for me Walcott hasn’t let us down and he hasn’t really excelled either. Against Fulham he was really off his game, touch, movement, dribbling were all pretty poor. one swallow does not a summer make or something like that though so perhaps he will have a great game against wet spam.
