Have to admit it amuses me all the stuff about how much footie fans hate sky and go to great lengths to stream matches from various services. Don’t get me wrong I did myself when we were in lower divisions and couldn’t see the games any other way. However in case it’s gone unnoticed, clubs are now virtually totally dependent on tv money, memberships and season tickets subscriptions. Are genuine fans happy streaming from Russian sites or whatever. Just asking. Personally happy to know the few quid I give makes it back to the club

Evening Eire, strangely enough I’ve just replied to Marcos in the match day thread just two minutes or so before this mentioning Sky and streaming.

I’ll repeat it here to keep it from being lost...

I pay £40 a year for an IPTV service on an Android Box. I watch the BT Sport games on it and I take it on holiday in case there is a Leeds game I want to see.

I pay Sky TV a huge amount a month for the full package, it’s my luxury, I enjoy watching Leeds and all sport in Ultra HD, I can pause it I can rewind it, I can record entire games if I’m late back from a job. I’ve Also got Amazon Prime so all bases are covered.

Once when we were in the Championship I had to use a “Russian” type stream, the lag, the disconnects, the pauses, the jumps, the **** quality took every ounce of enjoyment away for me, I couldn’t do that now there is an option to watch on the big tv screen in perfect quality but that’s just me.

I’m in a position to afford Sky and I can only assume those that rely on live streams instead of a Sky subscription is down to financial pressures.

I’ll check that. It really irks me though. It’s like buying knocked off Leeds jerseys etc. Club gets nothing. If you can’t buy a proper club one, don’t buy some ****e made in China. I don’t get it. Fans want the sky money to pay 20m for this lad and that lad but won’t contribute to the clubs coffers

I pay 100 to Virgin media for Sky Sports, BT Sports and a very reduced entertainment package each month

Both Sky and Virgin Media don't give a crap about us, the small guy. Unless I keep a very good eye on it, it will go up, and up, and up to whatever they can get away with.

I am not now going to pay extra monies out to obscure sports channels like Amazon Prime.

Millions of people cannot afford the Sky channels, especially at the moment, which is why there is a streaming page.

So if everyone stopped their subscriptions where do you think that will end. Do you think the tv companies would just donate billions every season out of the goodness of their hearts

French football is suffering because a Tv deal collapsed, similar to the ITV deal in Scotland. So football needs Tv revenues but maybe not Sky and think once the existing deal is done a new model will be brought in

The next TV deal if based upon the existing model will see an extension of Amazon, BT Sport, Sky, Netflix, which will then also affiliate BeInSports and other broadcasters from around the world. Sky would be involved but not be the dominant partner.

Another model is allowing clubs to own their own broadcasting rights which is what Man Utd and the Top 6 want and Leeds would also like this because we have a history and also an owner who is expert in marketing sports broadcasting around the world especially in China and the Far East. The bulk of the Premier League dont want this because nobody would buy WBA TV for example so would see their revenues fall.

Another more suitable option would be based upon the NFL model whereby the Premier League do it themselves either just like the NFL and remember we have the 49ers part owning our club and are experts. A variant of this is like Formula1 who own their broadcasting rights, have their own camera crews and sell a feed to different worldwide broadcasters for practice days and race days. F1TV if you notice takes over the feed a few minutes before the race starts and has its own logos and music

Scrap the Sky, BT Sport deals etc. Make all games available through clubs' own viewing platforms like LUTV.

Cut out the middleman and money would go directly to the clubs. Transfer fees would collapse, as would players' wages and agent fees. That's a good thing right?

Clubs would then pay for any transfers they make through revenue earned from home attendance/fan subscribers, or source players from their academies.

A level playing field for all and a complete financial reset. It would also keep all money within the game.

The reason football is reliant on tv money is very simple
Sky dug a very big hole and the clubs couldn’t wait to jump into it
Now they can’t get out of it because their overheads are so high ie players wages etc
I don’t pay for any of these fancy tv packages and never will
I think they are all ripoff merchants
I have enough keeping my eyes on virgin who try to double the cost of my basic broadband deal every 12 to 18 months
On a personal level yes I could afford it if I wanted to but chose not to call me a plastic if you wish
Ps you may have noted or not but I never pass comment on individual players ability main reason being that if I don’t pay I don’t have the right
I do however feel I have the right to defend the club when so called pundits pass derogatory comments

Just for their support for a terror organisation they should be hated,
I'm with Forza, let the clubs show their own games if Sly want to show it buy it from the club

Won’t make any difference if fans are going to pay nothing by streaming. Clubs still won’t get anything

We'd all be on the same level.

Leeds 5th or 6th biggest city in England, plus a one city team - We'd be fine...

Lets also take into consideration the better players earn in a week what most of us do in a year...

Same in all sports at the top. Golf, tennis even darts ffs. Footballers are part of the entertainment business and have kept some of us partially sane over the last year. There are lots of sections of society earning as much and provide little or nothing to benefit anyine

As wages drop so too would overseas player numbers, which also means more scope for UK kids coming through

Do you personally know people who earn 30-40k a week. I probably know 2 people from the whole of Southampton.

Quality of most free links is crap, do sky and prime, but not bt, never going to do them either, so some streaming necessary.

I've got Sky, recently discovered I have Amazon too (via my youngest's Prime membership). However I refuse in principal to buy all available packages when I might be paying a fortune for 1 or 2 games. They're taking the piss atm, & I cannot see it improving.

As for streaming, I do it for BT games & otherwise unavailable games. I'm willing to pay for live games on LUTV & have done in the past. Just wish I could do it for unavailable games (that includes BT).

Never had a bad link yet from this lot. Pure quality...... https://reedit.soccerstreams.net/home
