There will be legal ways around the salary cap, lets just KLD and his team can be inventive which I'm sure they will be
This EFL rule is totally unfair and has taken away a legitimate advantage. I’d go as far to say that it puts bigger clubs at risk of collapse. If you have a player on £10k per week and a two/three year contract, can’t offload him, can’t remove him from the squad, have poor performances on the pitch and can’t do anything to change it, may result in a fall of attendances. The whole thing was orchestrated and was obviously going to get voted in, it was akin to asking Portsmouth, Ipswich, ourselves to vote on handicapping the smaller clubs. Also the fact it was with immediate affect, is an absolute nonsense. However, we knew it was coming as stated, so why the **** did we wait until after to start recruiting players, like Matthews and Graham, the latter in particular. I think Blackpool signed a load before it came into force. I just hope someone has the balls to take these on, cos the weak willed PFA obviously couldn’t give a ****e about their members
We’ll need to sign players as we’ll have to still put a team out but maybe he’s a clue as to the profile we’ll be limited to targeting (along with U21 Prem loans that is (this whole cap plays into the Prem team’s hands and gives more power to the Chelsea model that’s been killing the game for years now)).
The club should challenge the ruling imo. It's restriction of trade. It wouldn't cost a fortune and they may have to suspend the ruling until it's gone through the courts.
It’s total bullshit isn’t it. It’s a vote to handicap the whole league though. It means the smaller clubs are even more susceptible to losing any talented players they do have and the better players going to the Championship and above. As I said above it’s also further perpetuating the situation where the top Prem clubs harvest all the Academy talent across the country, make money from loaning them out and then can keep them if they prove to be any good. Just strengthening their monopoly on things when really it should be one of the first things rectified in the rules.
I do agree with you mate, the only problem is that in reality if you have a player on 10k a week he should be ability wise well ahead of the majority of league 1 players. Problem we have is ours certainly isn't and is probably on par with many players on 2k a week. I wonder which thick twat is to blame for that well done Stewy
I think it’s very hefty fines that get distributed to the other clubs (with the EFL obviously taking their slice of the pie).
I’m not sure they are any more susceptible though mate. The smaller clubs thrive on raising then selling their best players, that is there MO and they have built up their club for years on that. Their advantage is they had a head start, the moment they said it was with immediate affect. We had owners who by then, had sold off our bloody advantage and we’ve had to rebuild a whole academy team from scratch
I wonder how hefty they are, taking everything into account simply ignoring the restriction and paying the fine might be an option for Dreyfus.
It was very heavy if I remember right. It’s in the rules but I’m afraid I can’t find them at the minute.
