Yes, but its a long term thing and brighton have locked him down so its a 50mil fee unless he runs his contract out.

Wijnaldum to Barca looking likely, he'll go with our thanks and best wishes. Thiago already his replacement.

Being going to happen since Barca (Koeman) was interested.
Fact is our owners have an idea what Gini is worth and his potential value will be and it doesn't match up to what Gini and his agent believe. Money and length.

Barca are in a more desperate situation than us and will be willing to pay more (perhaps over the odds) for him.

As good as Gini has been over the years I don't think he would be hard to replace, that's not to say he wouldn't be a loss but I think we could find someone to do the job he does (and someone younger) fairly easily. There are a fair few similar type players as Gini around.

funny thing is, koeman won’t be there when Gini joins next summer as he’ll have been sacked and replaced by xavi

    Probably

But its still the chance for Gini to get what he thinks he's worth and will be signed off before Koeman might be sacked. Then it would be down to whether Xavi wants to use him or not.

Who ever is there will use him, but he'll never be as valued by the Barca fans as he is here and he certain't wouldn't play as regularly.

He's had a great few seasons here, he can leave if he wants for a bigger pay day. I won't begrudge him that. But it will be the turning point in his career almost certainly

problem is Barca main players are all in or approaching 30

messi, griezman, pique, pjanic, Alba, busquetes. They need some fresh blood which they have with a decent crop of youngsters but done see what adding a 31 year old midfielder does to them really.

Barca have long had the money and the clout to bring in top players, but they've never been the shrewdest buyer.
It does seem a bit of an odd buy for them, but is potentially a good move for him. He's not 31 until November, I believe, but even so, at his age players generally have to stick if they're getting the playing time with a good team , or move down the ladder a bit.
It all depends on whether it comes off or not for him - these moves don't always work.

Windy will get a big signing on fee, good wage and his agent will make a killing.

He will be on loan withing the year and his career will Peter out.

    Simple really.

We have now passed the point where a transfer in of a cb would have been effective. Games will come thick and fast with 2 a week.

Gini and Bobby need replacing this summer. No point giving Gini a big long term contract because at the end of the day, his best attribute is staying fit and being available (I know I'm downplaying his actual footballing ability but we need to move on now). And everyone knows Bobby is finished now.

Bissouma or Anguissa would be really good Gini replacements IMO and they could be cheap if they get relegated. Halaand is the dream number 9 for us - the guy is an absolute machine.

It's not 1 bad season. He's been underperforming for a while now. He wasn't great last season either. This is a sustained period of regression.
