    Sheffield Wednesday v Swansea City

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Hillsborough Stadium
    Date - 13 February 2021
    Kick off - 3.00 pm

Following their FA Cup defeat at home to PL Champions-elect, Manchester City, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swans is an away trip to South Yorkshire to play Sheffield Wednesday.

Last Friday evening, the Swans deservedly beat (then) Championship leaders Norwich City 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium in front of the Sky Sports cameras which broadcast the match live.

Andre Ayew capitalised on Tim Krul's error to put Steve Cooper's team ahead late in a fairly even first half.

Conor Hourihane then made it three goals in as many league games since joining Swansea on loan from Aston Villa with a rasping long-range drive.

Norwich battled hard to respond but are now winless and scoreless in three league matches.

On Tuesday evening, Sheffield Wednesday moved out of the Championship drop zone with victory over bottom side Wycombe Wanderers, who remain in deep relegation trouble.

Jordan Rhodes gave the hosts a first-half lead at a snowy Hillsborough with a fine cushioned header from Kadeem Harris' dinked cross.

Former Swan, Adebayo Akinfenwa, captaining Wycombe on his first start since 26 December, spurned their best chance of the game before the break when he headed straight at Keiren Westwood.

The Owls continued to create the better opportunities in the second half but their goal to make it 2-0 had a huge slice of fortune about it.

Harris' blocked shot fell to Adam Reach, whose 25-yard strike took a huge deflection off Anthony Stewart and wrongfooted Wycombe goalkeeper Ryan Allsop.

The Swans have played the Owls on 34 previous occasions, winning 8, losing 13 and drawing 13.

In the corresponding fixture at Hillsborough last season, the teams battled out a 2-2 draw:

Turning to Saturday, both sides are desperate for 3 points: the Swans to maintain their charge for an automatic promotion spot, and the Owls to pull clear of the relegation places.

If the match against Man City hasn’t taken too much out of the players, then I’d expect the Swans to win 2-0. However, I’ve got a feeling that it will be a 1-1 draw. Hope the Swans win <cheers>

Hmmmm..... even I'm (fairly) convinced the bubble's not going to burst now, so it's a 1 - 3 for me.

Thanks Taff as usual...last season we should have won up there but allowed Monks marauders to get a draw.....earlier this season the Owls undeservedly grabbed a draw.....I think we are stronger and better now than then so its 2-0 to us...

Let us hope they have more desire, that they had against Man. City........... don't think it will be easy, as Wednesday confidence is on the rise.

What has happened to men on football
Tonight the draw for the quarter finals of the F.A. Cup was made by two Women.... not a Male in sight.

I did initially have a wry smile when they went to the draw but, in all fairness, the 3 pundits at the match are Lineker, Shearer and Wright, so perhaps, in all fairness, nowt wrong overall <cheers>

What’s the difference between three lady pundits and Lineker, Shearer & Wright? Three are fannies and three are lady pundits.

Because you can do to 3 lady Pundits, what you would not want and hate to do to Linekar, Shearer, and Wright.....................think I better get off here.

We have 19 games left. The average points for 1st place is 94 and 87 for 2nd. So if we aim for a mid point of 90 points that's 37 from 19 games as near as damn it 2 points a game or 2 wins and a loss from every 3 games.
That's not impossible so let's get 3 of them on Saturday.
