Same with me, had to gag myself not to wake the family around 3.45 am. This Ale 11 shirt definitely been worth wearing the last few games.

Dressed the baby up in his QPR vest this morning. Drinking out of my QPR mug all day. That kind of enjoyable morning.

One reflection on last night is that central midfield has gone from being a rather soft spot for us - with Carroll and Ball/Cameron - to a potential strong spot with Johansen, who was superb, and Field, who I've got high hopes for. That might give Warburton a bit more flexibility to revert to two CBs when he feels he needs to as I think Johansen and Field will give a lot more protection than we saw in the first half of the season. Not proposing any formation changes while we're on a winning run, if it ain't broke don't fix it, but it might be an option if one of the CBs picks up an injury or we need to chase a game.

Just a quick word about time wasting among all the justified euphoria. I know every team in the division does it, particularly the successful ones, but I was still quite shocked about just how cynical our approach to the last 10 minutes was. Dieng in particular must spend a good part of his training practising all the ways he can run down the clock. In the end I suppose it comes down to referees and the football authorities to tackle this but it's still chastening to see how much my club has now fallen into this pattern which is basically cheating.

It should be penalised but there’s nothing to gain by being ‘better’ if the rules aren’t enforced. Brentford were happy enough to kill time at 1-0.

Things I’d have found hard to believe a year ago:

    I wouldn’t feel like a plonker wearing a mask

I’d be excited at the prospect of a trip to Tesco

Charlie would be practically back to his best in a hooped shirt

    Philip Schofield was gay

We’d be solid defensively, have one of the best keepers in the league and win 5-6 games culminating in a win against Brentford.

In hindsight, I guess one of the above isn’t so shocking.

It’s the mask one, isn’t it.

I hope last nights win wasn't the culmination, I could take a few more wins yet.

Is it true that the number of bank raids by masked bandits has actually fallen in the last 12 months?

Yes, he was most certainly The Flying Scotsman last night Col. I didn't realise that Thomas Frank lookalike Audrey Roberts made that funny noise at the end of every sentence either. Well it made me chuckle.

I think Wallace has done really well since he came back from injury.
Kane showed why so many of us find him so frustrating, with awful crosses and touches, followed by that sublime cross field ball to Wallace. He doesn't lack confidence, which is probably the thing that has got him to where he is.
Really like Johansen and thought Field looked a proper footballer in his brief appearance.
I'd like to see Willock get a start, maybe instead of Dykes if he can play up top.

Yeh Kane is definitely a frustrating one. As a positive he does put in a shift - don’t know what his match stats are, but he is always involved throughout the game and keeps running up and down the pitch. He muffs many crosses but has also put in some critical crosses for goals/attempts too.

Have to feel he has more impact than a player that is quiet, without much work rate, most of a match and does a couple of things right to tick his match day performance. Maybe it’s that old analogy - you have to get a few things wrong to get the one thing right that makes a difference.

I do also feel if he pulled back a coach after training to practice his run and cross technique he could be a real pain in the arse for oppositions and the big bonus for our forwards.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't have sessions practicing crossing etc.

I agree that, when he gets it right, it can often be an important contribution.
However, I'd swap him for a decent wing back in a heartbeat.

Paradoxically, I enjoyed it. We never did it and I have always been proud of that but the longer I have seen refs fail to punish other teams doing it against us (think Preston as possibly the worst culprits) the more I have felt if you can't beat them. Maybe when we are safe and have a few more points on the board we can stop it again though.
