    Paull isn't that far away. Did they have public transport in those days? I wasn't even born.

    On a completely different subject, and I am not sure whether I am mixing things up, but my grandparents often took me to Paull in the fifties, and I seem to remember them eating shrimp out of a paper bag in the car. Have you any recollection of that being sold in Paull, or am I mixing up another place we might have visited?

    I did that. I was born in 1952 so I suppose it could have been late 1950s or early 1960s.

    It's funny how names of places come to be. Not far from Paull is Sunk Island, which is above water !

    Why was Paull called Paull, as opposed to Johnn, Georgee or Ringoo?
    Beats me.

    On the shrimp front: I remember blokes coming into pubs on Friday nights selling small grease-proof bags of cooked shrimp laced with vinegar & pepper. Great treat. Must have been early to mid-60's.

    Bit of a side step from Tigers, but...

    THE VILLAGE OF PAULL was originally named Paghil, Latinised into Pagula, which means a stake marking a landing-place.

    Until relatively recently Paull was a centre for fishing and particularly shrimping;

    It carried on way into the seventies at least. There was a bloke in a white coat came into the National every Friday night selling them. They did other stuff as well, like jellied eels. I remember getting them in town as well. There was also an old bloke with a chestnut stand near Whitefriargate, who sold roasted chestnuts.

    Yes, Kershaws. It was written on the back on his jacket. A Trailblazer. Football followed his lead.

    We were probably still living down Welwyn Park Avenue on Beverley Road which was on the edge of Hull in those days. Not sure BMB, my memory is nowhere as good as Mr BMB. Can hardly remember what I had for breakfast!

    Watched the clip about Chris Chilton, great goals, the third one with the inter passing between him and Waggy was superb. Watching it reminds you of just how good they were.
