Decent game, 4 pretty good goals that should have been more. Satisfied by that. Nice to see Dialo get a few mins and the lad looked good and full of confidence the whole time, happy day's.
They did what they had to do. Took their opportunities which they haven’t done recently. So well done to Ole and the players. They made it look easy. if we throw brickbats at them when they draw or lose we should be prepared to commend them when they win
We should have been at least another 6-7 points ahead of them. SU, Everton and WBA all should have been wins without a shadow of a doubt. But in terms of slide I’ve never seen champions collapse and lose their composure as much as these RS losers. Keane was absolutely right. They’ve been the worst champions in premiership history. 4 historical defeats in a row at home. Worst than even the onetime champions Blackburn and Leicester.
Talking of Keane, this popped up on a timeline of mine. For the so called dirtiest bastand ever, I love the way he never even blinks, let alone complains or retaliated, while Vinnie Jones goes though the match when he would have been sent off five times if this match was played today. Also kudos to the best all round centre forward we ever had and the best left back ever, bar Byrne. What a ****ing team this one was! https://fb.watch/3NfAGnKCwq/
Great team. Attacking and smashing teams without mercy. Almost as good as the team with Best, Law and Charlton in the late 60s. Anyone else here seen that team play live? I wasn’t even a teen then.
For reasons that still aren't clear my dad used to get director's box tickets at Highbury. I went to see us play the gunners in the league in March 1967 - Highbury was like a bog and the pitch was sluggish and slow and the game ended 1 - 1 but the brilliance was there. I next saw us play live at a small game at Wembley in 1968 against some Portuguese side........ My dad wasn't a football fan, he took the trouble to take me because I was and I remember trying not to cry on the tube on the way home so I wouldn't let him down............ I was 13 and deliriously happy.
No, not that old bud! First game I went to was at Burnden Park. Was very young but Bolton had fat Sam Allardyce playing, Frank Worthington, Alan Gowling and our very own Willie Morgan. I'll never forget it. We had Buchan, Stepney, Greenhoff, Coppell, Nichol etc. in our side. We lost 3 nil. Never looked back!
I was already working when I watched Buchan and McQueen play at the back, with Greenhoff and Frank Stapleton at the front. That team although good at times would be inconsistent as ****. The likes of treble and cytrax would have even more fits
To think how the talents of the likes of Best and Law could shine on those old, boggy pitches is quite remarkable. The number of times you would see a lofted pass hit the ground and not move or the ball hardly roll on the mud during a dribble - and yet they still had magic in their feet, it makes you wonder just how good they would have been playing on today's manicured surfaces.
