There were a lot of empty units in Hull pre lockdown. With the amount of retailers lost and the move to online shopping - I think the high street as we know it will be very different.

It depends on who ends up living in them. For it to help the city centre they need to have jobs and money to spend and that's not a given these days.

That’s right. With all the green energy progress and rumours regarding Siemens expansion - you’d hope jobs follow. There will also always be entrepreneurs that thrive. One door closes and another one opens.

Hull named a Tree City of the World in global list

Hull has been named a Tree City of the World – one of only 120 cities across the globe – for its commitment to urban forests. The Arbor Day Foundation has praised Hull and included the city in the prestigious list for its continued efforts to grow and maintain green spaces.

Tree Cities of the World is a programme founded by The Arbor Day Foundation and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to recognise cities around the globe that have committed to growing and maintaining their urban forest.

Through this recognition, Kingston upon Hull will join a network of like-minded cities who recognise the importance of trees in building healthy, resilient and happy cities.

Talking of trees, I had a 30ft Ewe heavily trimmed today, in my garden.

Some ****ing Jobsworth from the forestry commission turned up and told me it was illegal to mess with Ewe trees unless the firm doing it were certified.

The tree was leaning on upstairs windows that we're having new double glazing done this month.

Talk about ****ing tree hugging <doh>

**** off man, I love trees as much as the next man/woman, but needs must.

Hmm, I think Hyde Park's probably at least twice the size of East Park!

Should get a hell of a lot of jumpers out of that harvest.
Reminds me of the Scottish equivalent of "Silence of the Lambs" - "Shut up Ewes." :emoticon-0105-wink:

No - it was about the size. Largest inner city green space was what I was told - anyway, doesn’t matter now. It was obviously an urban myth

I had a "discussion" with some smartarse jobsworth regarding a tree over the back fence, As some of you may be aware the City training ground is behind my house. A ****ing big ash tree split in two during a storm about 10 years ago and was hanging dangerously over my garage. I approached the Club as it was on their side of the beck between the training pitch and my back fence but was told it was not theirs and that I should speak to the Environment Agency. They didn't want to know and told me to talk to ERYCC. They didn't want to know so I told them I would have it cut down as it belonged to no-one. **** me 2 days later its gone on the back of a council truck when I told them if it fell down the bill was being sent to Beverley.

    1-0 to the little man.:emoticon-0178-rock:
