Will the Bees sting the Canaries, or will the bird fly ever higher?

Another midweek game, this time the top two play as the games keep coming thick and fast

    Form:
    Norwich WWWWW
    Brentford WWLLL

Pukki Vs Toney two of the league's top scorers who together have scored more than Swansea face off against each other. Defences at the ready for this onslaught of goalscoring prowess... it's probably going to be a 0-0 bore draw now. Nil-nil was the score when the clubs first met in division three south in 1920 and in total it's fairly even between the two sides with Norwich winning 26, drawing 11 and losing 22 of the games.

With both teams having won on the weekend it will be an interesting clash between the top two

I hope we score as much as in this match!

Brentford will probably think that this is a game they would like to win, can't afford to lose and would happily accept a point if it was offered to them now. City probably have the same point of view except that a loss would not be as bad to them as it would be to Brentford. It has a draw written all over it so probably one team will win 3-0!!

Largely agree with that assessment, there's too much of the season left for it to be a "must win" for either team, but a draw is more helpful for us. Maintains the gap and reduces the games left in which to bridge it.

I don't believe Farke has ever sent his players out for a draw .

    Especially at home

So 13 games to go we have averaged over 2 points per game (2 points per game + 4, 1 up from last week). We are 19 points above 7th, a spot currently filled by Barnsley. I don't see our next game against Brentford as a must win game, indeed we could afford to lose and would remain top, however for me it's one we don't want to lose, so I'd be happy with a draw. After that we play Luton (a bit of a bogey team for us), before a very winnable game against Sheffield Wednesday and a trip to Chris Hughton's Nottingham Forest. We currently sit 3rd in the form table of the last 6 games with 15. With Cardiff & Barnsley above us on 16 points. KO 5.30pm Wednesday with the game being shown on Sky.

Brentford remain in 2nd and 7 points behind us after a 2 - 1 home win against Stoke, despite a lethargic fist half. Toney is back from injury and scored against Stoke, his 25th goal of the season. Brentford are 11th in the form table with 9 points from last 6 games.

Watford remain in third despite a 1 - 0 loss away to Bournemouth at the weekend. Hopefully Wycombe can do us a favour for tiding up the dressing room when they play Watford at 7pm on Wednesday. Pedro will miss the game due to his red at Bournemouth. Form 13 points from last 6 games and just behind us in the form table in 4th.

Swansea remain in 4th despite slipped up again on Saturday, losing 3 - 1 to a rejuvenated Bristol City under Nigel Pearson. They are 11 points behind us with 2 games in hand. Steve Cooper says his team must overcome mental and physical fatigue if they are to bounce back with a win away to Stoke on Wednesday, KO 8.15pm. Form 12 points from last 6 games puts them 6th in the form table.

Reading remain in 5th having just beat Rotherham 1 nil at the weekend. Form 6 points from last 6 games and 17th in the form table. They play Blackburn Rover on Tuesday at 8pm.

Bournemouth return to 6th place as a result of their win against Watford, their first win since Woodgate was appointed. They have a tricky away game to Bristol City and will be without Jack Wilshere who also got a red in the Watford game. KO 7.45pm Wednresday Hopefully Bristol City can repeat the favour they did us in beating Swansea. Form 10 points from last 6 games and 9th in the form table.

At this time I still think there is a 99.999999 % chance of us finishing in the top 6, a 75 % chance of us finishing in the top 2 and a 60% chance of us winning the league.

Interesting night on Wednesday. As well as our 1st v 2nd clash the Swans have a difficult trip to the Potteries and The Cherries play the Robins who should be full of confidence following their win at the Liberty.

Keeping the momentum is more important for us more than the points IMHO

Not to mention Watford Vs Wycombe, who beat Reading last week. Tomorrow night could make a major difference to all concerned. It will also give some indication of how we might fare if we're promoted and are able to regularly put out our first choice players without being plagued by injuries and constant changes.

If Pukki & Buendia play every remaining game we will go up.

We can handle missing players in other areas even in goal but Buendia especially is vital .

    Press conference time:

-Injury situation unchanged, Todd might be back for Luton.
-Stiepermann back in first team training, "looking sharp", but I don't think many trained yesterday so he's not really integrated yet. Might be an option for next week (presumably after Luton).

In that we've had a reasonable run of games since the 3 game dip culminating in the loss at Swansea. Like Swansea, Brentford pose a higher level challenge that will test our team capabilities in a high pressure match.

Well, OK, but I think how we fare in the return matches against Watford and Bournemouth is likely to tell us more than tomorrow's game against Brentford. The Bees play good football, but they lack the physicality and top-level experience of the Hornets and Cherries.

I agree with Watford but think that Bournemouth are a spent force bearing little resemblance to their squad last year.
