Just my view - the public are firmly on the side of NHS staff after a hugely difficult year, and 1% pay rise looks mean. The achillies heel to industrial action is if people in the private sector continue to lost jobs and unemployment rises. I'd much prefer to see pressure put on govt to increase the rise without a strike

You don’t have to debate this with me as there are plenty of others that would be interested.
Not long ago posters on here mocked me over Captain Hindsight. I said then he was a dud and he is. All those praising him have fallen silent?
I also said that the EU was being run like the mafia. Again I was mocked and told that the U.K. was ‘protectionist’. Funny those voices have also fallen silent? Actually the way they have acted of late you must be an idiot trying to support them.
Finally I said the City was the best and would do okay. I was again mocked and told all the companies would leave. Again that never happened and it now has record investment and a bright future. Funnily again those voices have fallen silent?
for someone who is ‘uninformed’ I do get quite a bit right?

Yes mate. Totally get it and it wouldn’t take much to turn public opinion against us. However I’m not sure if I can think of any other way, as NHS workers, if putting pressure on the government...other than the threat, or taking of, industrial action.

The government will take account of public opinion. When you have generally right leaning journos like Nick Ferrari on LBC rubbishing the pay rise, it's time for the govt to think again

Public pressure. Journos at interviews, pressure groups, petitions independent opinion polls etc. The govt's PR people will pick this up. May be the 100k epetition to force a vote in Parliament

Surely NHS staff could share the £350m a week Brexit bonus between them?

Stainesy needs to hire a bus.

What I really need is that now we’ve left the pro austerity EU, is for you all to support a true socialist party willing to stand up for the workers and make a fairer and more just society.
Labour has become a ‘Tory lite’......vote WPB !!!

He doesnt bother me enough to hate him. Hes just very childish in his comments. Take him with a pinch of salt like the majority do. Back to your original question mate, I think the vast majority have seen what front line staff have had to go through and although a strike would be undesirable, if it's the only way then it becomes a 'forced option'. I personally wouldnt blame anyone in the NHS for striking if they cant get what they truly deserve.

I think that's the key right there Goldy. It's from within the party and right leaning people to pull the government on this.

Do you think the public would support it though Bob ? I’m in a lucky position that I’m reasonably financially secure and even though I know the basic ain’t great, I don’t have to rely on overtime to make my pay up......sadly many of my colleagues do and any industrial action would effect t(em massively.
Striking is a real option for me and I’d embrace it...losing a few quid wouldn’t hurt me that much if it’s for the greater good. I just think the MSM would have a field day of we did....pretty much what they did when the Fire Brigade took action. Make us out to be lazy and undeserved of anything
