    Defend better, definitely.

We'll need to score at least one though.

Game plan required anyone? Or might it just be a case of being way less conservative and just attacking the **** out of it, see what happens.

    Why not?

Trust me, look forward to one more round of the FA Cup and then hold the end of season party straight after.

You speak sense for once FFS. Having said that, even you couldn’t go against the evidence on this one <whistle>

Yeah, all the players fault, obvs.

In case you didn't notice, the 'coach' sat on his arse and watched all this.

And, when Glazer lauded the 'tactics' of bringing on our best left back to go alongside our reserve left back, while taking off our best player, this 'tactic' failed. Because we then conceded an away goal.

But yeah, this is all down to the players not being good enough.

His tactics worked until the last few seconds of the match. Henderson had a **** up and let in an easy goal. You have to trust your GK not to let in some ridiculous header straight to him. Even the most biased couldn’t blame the manager for that <ok>

Exactly that. The most biased couldn't <ok>

His tactics, or lack of, didn't work mate. It was their third team, a bunch of kids and we were outplayed in midfield and defence. Our only good fortune was they didn't score more.

How anyone can think there was a gameplan in there is laughable. That was bloody awful lol

I do wonder how ppl can justify our poor performances and poor results. And not hold the manager responsible for any of it.

At least when we have a good performance there'll be some credit given. Granted the good performances you can probably count on one hand this season, but still.

While I'm at it, I can't believe we went out to that Leipzig side. Which an absolute **** Livpl side beat twice comfortably.

Completely disagree. Good tactics until Henderson contrived to turn the tie against United. Not over but more difficult than it needed to be.

You know what I meant. The most biased against the manager. No one anywhere blamed the manager or tactics. The GK ****ed up. End of (to quote someone).

BTW like Glazer hinted last thread, we’ll probably get more activity now that we’ve drawn...

True, but if we win the second leg 0-3 just think how much praise the players will get <ok> :emoticon-0100-smile

I won’t even bother start the conclusion of who is ultimately accountable because the logic of it doesn’t seem to work around here.

    But I will say this...

I don’t think that we can micro analyze each game and designate blames. What accurately represents what Manchester United has become to an observer is that we are not consistent.

The result tonight isn’t necessarily bad on its own. But it clearly fits a pattern for us. We simply draw far too many matches that we need to win and there’s usually lack of urgency in our gameplay in those games.

Consequently, it’s hard to know what will happen from game to game as it becomes harder to carry over good form. Sadly, this is what kills the promise of this team.

If we go to Milan and win it'll mean that they've collectively worked on something and planned for the match and picked the right team and carried out the game plan and tactics.

And everyone will rightly be praised for that, which is how it works.

"Uninventive", "stale", "lacking in ideas" are just 3 of the quotes from the guy commentating on the game.

There isn't a commentator out there that's praised Ole for yesterday's ****show and rightly so.

Like I said, anyone who isn't a biased fan of Ole could see we were garbage yesterday. It took an individual piece of skill from a ball lobbed over the top to score yesterday rather than anything crafted from pass and move expansive football. AC Milan created twice as many chances on goal than we did. Their youngsters controlled the midfield. We were lucky not to be 2 down inside 10 mins. And that was their C team and we were playing at home.

But you know let's hang the goalie because it's easier to blame the players lol

    Good post.

And why is that? Because when you have an identity and tactics which knit the defence to midfield to attack, and ppl who can coach players to play to it, then you have consistency <ok>

It's all getting a bit boring this, eh?

    There are two schools;

those who can see quite clearly that, for all the obvious effort and intent, we have reached a limit that we're not likely to get past.

Are we going to beat a team that don't even need to attack, away from home? Evidence says not, given we can't beat the likes of Sheffield United, West Brom et al when they just defend, but we'll see.

Then there are those who just blindly back Ole, because he's Ole, and pop up to slap him and themselves on the back when we have a decent win, then blame the players when we don't.

The 'argument' is tedious now tbh.

I know which side I sit.

More than happy to wait till end of season and find out whether I'm 'wrong' (I won't be) and whether Solskjaer has warranted another season.

On the last bit, still not 100% sure tbh.

As much as I think we'll 'win' nothing more than CL qualification, if we get that and maybe a Cup then, with a DoF in place, perhaps we all go again next season?

Very much this. I was thinking the same.

On the last bit we'll probably scrape Top 4 and that's it. Where I agree with Christian is it'll be enough to keep Ole in his job. But then will the same ppl accept to all intents and purposes he's failed? Or will the fact we qualified for CL be used to justify him as a tactical genius? I will give my head a wobble if if they try to polish that turd.

Hey, I'm not blind to the shortcomings - and not just Ole's. The ground is ****e by comparison to other major stadiums in the PL, we have had 'drift' and uncertainty for a decade - but given the resources available, Ole hasn't done bad. My question is this - given the state of the club, given the financial stalemate of most of the big clubs in Europe, if we sack Ole, then who would come in to take his place? With so few top managers available - Allegri (completely untried and tested in the PL) for one - who can we guarantee is going to be better than Ole. Answer me that with conviction - until then I'll back our current manager to the hilt, always have done, always will. Doesn't mean I can't criticise the **** out of them though, but all things considered, and given that there isn't a decent alternative out there, Ole has done what he can and deserves our support

Chief is right. So is Glazer. Boring that each time we don’t get a win, we have one side crucifying the manager and the other trying to defend him because their arguments are not reasonable and pure garbage. Milan surprised many by how well they played. Ridiculous to blame the manager for a last few seconds goal.

I have always said let’s leave it to the end of the season to judge the manager. Why is it so damn difficult? It’s not as if we can inform the decision by Woodward and the GGs.

One last time as you decided to resurrect this boring argument but why should anyone praise a draw at home by United? Really stupid. I only said no one blamed Ole for that performance or result. It was a GK mistake and **** happens. Haters shouldn’t blame everything on Ole. That’s all I’m going to say about this match.

Sounds like you’re suggesting that we haven’t spent enough. If that’s the suggestion, I’ll point to the reality that Sir Alex left, we have spent over £1bn on transfers. 30% of that expenditure came under Ole. This is not an inexpensive squad. And we know that our lack of consistency hasn’t been due to lack of talent in the squad.

This is such a terrible argument to make. To suggest that in the global world of football, there isn’t a single decent manager to elevate Manchester United defies reality. We must be the only club in the world that thinks there isn’t anyone in the game of football to take over from a current manager.

As for Allegri not being tested in the PL; since when did this become a prerequisite to be successful in the Premier League? In the last six years alone, we have seen three different managers win the league with limited prior experience in the league. So what is this excuse that we keep coming up with?

This is not even a shot at Ole, but can we please stop insinuating that a club this size is somehow out of options? That argument reflects terribly on the club. It suggests that the club is lazy!

With that said; it is being reported that Ole is now in line for a new contract. From that perspective, we can forget about the idea of United looking to change in the summer. That ain’t happening as far as Woodward is concerned.
