That was a fantastic all round team performance. Nigel Pearson what difference a highly respected manager can do for a bunch of players that were underperforming. Kasey Palmer what a player when he is in this mood-class. HNM was fantastic and ran Palmer close for MOM. Semenyo is getting better and better-When he finds his shooting boots the kid could go far. Nigel Pearson is the man to take Bristol City to the promised land. SL get the contract signed and watch those ST tickets fly off the shelf.
Don’t be so stupid RP says only Bentley and Kalas are any good. Go and do 100 push ups and whip yourself please.
Well let me make sense of the nonsense on both sides. Had Hunt, Paterson, ODowda, Watkins and Diedhiou been even mildly consistent, LJ would still be in charge, I could add the weak midfield that was never sorted, I could also add the right back position that was never properly sorted + not having a specialist replacement left back forcing Rowe to used in that position, all these things contributed to LJ's demise. I would say self inflicted. As for Massengo along with Palmer and Eliasson all 3 were poorly handled, Palmer's and Eliasson's individual talents being diluted by trying to make them into all round players and Massengo as an 18/19 year old being made to play far too many games from January until the end of last season in a team that couldn't beat an egg. You build your team around players like Palmer and Eliasson if only ODowda's delivery could be as consistent as Eliasson's. So now we build our team around players like Palmer and Semenyo and you accept that occasionally they will make mistakes, but with a capable midfield they will cover for those mistakes and with Massengo when things are not going well you protect them in the way that Pearson and even Holden have each protected Towler already this season and not keep him or other young players in the firing line.
For my part I think that only Kalas and Bentley are the best in the Championship in their respective positions so are unquestionably numbers 1 and 2 on the team sheet. I don’t think the rest are ‘crap’ at all but they haven’t been consistent. I really hope we are turning the corner, but I still think we are missing the ‘midfield general’.
In general I would agree about consistency it has been lacking for ages, as for a midfield general, I have been banging on about this for years, however when Walsh came on late in the game it was very noticeable that he was actively organising, attempting to put other players into position. This is something I have not seen from a BCFC midfielder for ages, I would say that we have 10 games left to see if he can be that player (game time allowing) if not then yes let's find one. I find it strange that during commentary today Lansbury was still being bigged up, I still think that he is poor far too many of his passes going straight into touch and he got himself booked yet again.
Lansbury today played very well his best game so far-class is permanent form is temporary. Lansbury of Notts Forest standard is a top top player.Just needs game time and I’m sure it will return.
Forest was 4 years ago, he is on a big wage and IMHO is not good enough anymore, I have seen little or any class or form, I have never seen a midfielder put so many passes straight into touch. But hey the only opinion that counts is Pearson and I will accept that whatever decision he makes at the end of the season.
I have said from the word go, the likes of O'Dowda, Messengo, Palmer Semenyo and others are decent players with flair, while most felt they were crap & weak!!.. I have also said that we need a few additions and a leader on the pitch which would make us a decent team for a chance of at least playoffs. We have for at least a couple of years lacked the latter. I believe but more importantly think we have a manager that know those improvements are vital and will have the muscle & the backing to bring the players required in.
1For The players you mention were crap and Massengo was weak under the guidance of Johnson and Holden. You have to question the wisdom of playing these young, inexperienced players together without 'leaders' and organisation around them. Palmer in particular was not rated by Johnson or for that matter other managers who had Palmer on loan. He has, as many have said, fantastic ability but it's taken your 'arrogant twat' to unlock his undoubted talent. I would add a note of caution, it's still early days. Players like Palmer find it easy to put a few games together, I hope he's still in this form next season.
He’s talking about Nige. You will learn soon that he misses what the main point of the comment. Harmless but ****ing daft as they come.
Yet again historically incorrect, having assisted Huddersfield into the prem, they wanted to make the transfer permanent but Chelsea stopped that by giving him a 4 year contract and initially Lampard took a look at him before sanctioning a transfer to us.
