Well we're at home again. The joys! Everton and Chelsea dropped points this weekend. This won't be lost on Ole. Guaranteed if Leicester drop points as well, he'll be setting us up "not to lose" again. A point's a point Rather than sending them out with any tactical approach to win. Hopefully if we're lucky a bit of individual effort might create a goal out of nothing. Something to look forward to eh? That is all
Got absolutely no problem with that first half performance. Still a bit too reliant on working it to Shaw on the left but at least that's not all we're doing. We're up against a well drilled defence but for once we're at least trying to play through the middle with some good passing and moving to create space and chances in the box. I'd be happy with that every game. More of the same in the second half please
Probably needed that concession to get going. Not a great match or performance but at this stage result is all. Ancelloti Tuchel and Mourinho, the managerial aristocracy are not having it their own way
Good football, good result. Q'uelle surprise! Only downside - Bruno, Rashford and Greenwood all had a poor game and there was zero excuse for it. None. They need to up their game.
Can’t argue with this. However performance and efficiency could be better. Shouldn’t have been this close. Moyes setting his team like Allardyce with no attempts on goal in the first half. How was he ever our manager
I want to mention our defence. They were fcking tremendous. The amount they have to deal with through no fault of their own. Fred is **** sorry. He offers our defence no protection. He doesn't read the game and his positional sense is fcking non-existent. He spends all his time chasing shadows. When does he ever make an interception? Or a tackle without giving away a foul because he's always wrong side of the oppo player. And all that means our defence have to deal with the onslaught. Full credit to our defence, solid
It's embarrassing. Look how they played after we scored. Why not play that way all game? I'm glad we beat them!
I must say that Greenwood wasn’t bad today. Hit the post twice - although one could argue that he should have scored the second.
He was ok but his inexperience showed tonight up front. Not his fault tbf so I guess I'm being harsh. Yeh fair point, I take that back.
There you go, we absolutely thrashed another top six contender, blew them away we did - great stuff (ish)
Ridiculously tough week ahead. Play Milan and another “top 4 contender” in Leicester and win. No other results will be acceptable.
We've got to be seen trying to win things, that's what United do. Any idea that we're merely targeting top four would be depressing to be honest. Milan will be tough, Leicester we should beat.
Yep. For United a 0-0 at Milan is equivalent to a 6-0 defeat. For Milan a clean sheet they are through. Our objective is simple. We have to score or else we are ****ed. AND interestingly Milan scoring the first goal hardly makes any difference so might as well pile in with attacking players. May be giving Mata a game with Fernandes or even playing with 2 at the top.
Milan were top of their league but in the last couple of weeks seemed to have collapsed. We really should be beating them. I'd start Diallo as he's played in the italian league. Our problem is in midfield. They bossed us there last week and we got fck all choices available. De Beek and Pogba out injured for far too long.
We may have an advantage in that we know exactly what we should be doing or at least we should. Milan may be in some doubt whether to go for a 0-0 or a win. We just have to go for it from kick off. We shouldn’t worry about their attack at the start. Conceding the first goal makes no difference to us but a hell of a difference to them. It’s better to go down fighting rather than meekly surrendering on a whimper with a 0-0. No excuses.
