Fantastic player in a absolutely fantastic team. Peter had the hardest shot in the game at the time. RIP @leedsunited. #Leeds.
Peter was one of the great players on the Leeds team when I was younger and had a shot that could rip the net from the goal posts. Another footballing great has left us and my thoughts go out to his family at this difficult time. R.I.P. Peter.
Traditionally even back in those days wingers were mainly a bit lightweight, Leeds broke the mould with Lorimer and Gray as hard as they came, RIP Peter Lorimer, say hi to Norman Hunter for us all, wish we had him partnering Kalas, Mick Jones to hold the ball up, Billy Bremner in midfield and you on the wing.
Spot on 1For John Giles was the brains of that team and yet was another who would leave his foot in. Terry Cooper was the first LB that I can remember who turned defending into the wide left role we see today. The occasional weak spot in that team and gave others a chance was 'careless hands' Gary Sprake. Still a mystery how we beat them up there in the 3day week. We were a few places off bottom Div2 and they were miles clear top of the 1st Division.
RIP Peter Lorimer A lot of that Leeds team of the early-mid 70's have now sadly departed. Paul Madeley, Gary Sprake, Billy Bremner, Norman Hunter, Jack Charlton, and now another
Every body has a youth, even you, whether you enjoyed it or not is up to you … I did. As an aside, talking about youth/young age at 1530 was having a cup of tea and bit of cake, sat under my cherry tree watching a rather large honey bee foraging the blossom about 5 foot above my head. Through the branch's I saw the "half moon" in a totally cloudless sky, my mind went back to the summer holidays in the 50's lying in the grass looking up at a skylark and wondering how far the blue went, it was like the blue on the "post reply" button. Today it seemed to be that same rich blue! must have been about 6 or 7 then. god thank goodness for aeroplanes!
