So, the weekends results have seemingly made the last relegation a spot a straight fight between Fulham & the Geordies. Only one can survive, so who will it be? Looking at their respective fixtures I’m struggling to see how it doesn’t come down to a last day shootout at the Cottage. The Toon currently have a 2 point advantage and a game in hand, but an inferior GD. So logic says they should be favourites at this point. 17 Newcastle United 29 4 4 6 17 23 3 3 9 11 25 -20 28 18 Fulham 30 2 4 10 9 23 3 7 4 14 15 -15 26 However, if you look at the form tables, the Toon have only taken 11 points from their last 18 games, compared to 18 from 18 for Fulham https://www.twtd.co.uk/league-tables/competition:premier-league/form/matches:18/type:home-and-away/ Here’s their remaining fixtures, you decide. Fulham 3 Apr 15:00 Aston Villa A 10 Apr 15:00 Wolverhampton Wanderers H 17 Apr 15:00 Arsenal A 1 May 15:00 Chelsea A 8 May 15:00 Burnley H 12 May 19:45 Southampton A 15 May 15:00 Manchester United A 23 May 16:00 Newcastle United H Newcastle 3 Apr 15:00 Tottenham Hotspur H 10 Apr 15:00 Burnley A 17 Apr 15:00 West Ham United H 24 Apr 15:00 Liverpool A 1 May 15:00 Arsenal H 8 May 15:00 Leicester City A 12 May 19:45 Manchester City H 15 May 15:00 Sheffield United H 23 May 16:00 Fulham A Personally, I can’t see any way it doesn’t come down to the last game - winner takes all. Arguably the biggest game in Newcastle’s history, as it might also be vital for their takeover hopes. Not sure I can remember another final day PL shootout like this, has there ever been one? Who will come out holding the others severed head?
Hopefully Fulham survive, play better football and Scotty Parker is much loved in these ends. Fulham quite similar to Brighton, if they had a decent striker they'd be well clear of the bottom sides. Both Potter and Parker are really good, promising managers in my opinion. Can see Potter especially getting a bigger offer in the not so distant future.
By the way lads, if it wasn’t for us and the 2 absolutely insipid performances we put up against the Toon, and the 6 points we gifted them, they’d already be ****ing buried. I apologise on behalf of every Blue and my club. Amen.
We're going down... Fulham are much better than us and our fixtures are much harder. I hope Fulham stay up I hate everything about nufc
I don't think it will be decided on the final game, I think Newcastle will be effectively relegated by the Sheff United game. If Newcastle had any desire to stay up, they should have played well against Brighton. Simple as.
Bruce has never gone for it and its caught up with him.. I think Collymore was spot on about him when he said players playing under Bruce soon realise they're just chasing the ball for 90 mins, become sick of their lives and if they challenge him he freezes them out.
Can't even blame the injuries tbh, letting three goals get shipped past you by a team who have been dropping near enough the same amount of points as you all season is just embarrassing. Equally it's damning against Bruce himself, who of course experienced this exact same result the second game of this season, a 3-0 home defeat against Brighton. Not a single tactical change was made for this game and a carbon copy result happened. Newcastle have a decent squad, otherwise they'd be rock bottom of the league tbh.
If Saints lose our next two - Burnley A, W. Brom H - which is perfectly possible, we’ll be right in there too.
Honestly, the way you guys have been performing in the league has been absolutely atrocious, but I think you've done enough at the start of the season to be OK. Not to mention, Newcastle, Brom and Sheffield are just the absolute pits.
Most of the lads on here are sound, but some of their fan base are absolute ****ing bell ends, the Kopites of the North East.
